Martin contract imminent

Ok, this is the first domino to drop:

  1. Martin signs extension, frees up some cap room
  2. Lawrence signs his extension, frees up a bit more
  3. Dallas trades for Earl Thomas, with a contract extension signed
  4. Super Bowl!

Now who's with me?
Thomas wants to be paid, no way I would give him what he wants, nor give up any thing of premium to the seahawks, I am still mad at the Galloway trade

Super Bowl win and then we celebrate withe the cheerleaders:yourock::yourock::yourock::yourock:

(But that's you on the right)

I predict a 5/65m extension for a total of 6/74m

38m guaranteed.....20m signing bonus this year and 11m next year

5m cap hit this year
8m cap hit next year
13m cap hit in 2020

If you are going to build your team through the draft and avoid spending in free agency-- then you HAVE to pay your All Pros top dollar and retain the players you develop.
Exactly. This is why it blows my mind when I see some fans talking about letting Lawrence or Irving walk after this season if they ball out.

Exactly. And there's not a safer bet to pay that Zack Martin. A Pro Bowler right out of the box.

I feel better about paying him that anyone else on the entire roster.

So...what’s the over/under on the number of threads — pro and con — that will be generated once the contract details are released?

If you aren't going to use the cap space created his year, why not just take a larger hit and give yourself flexibility down the road?

Although you can carry over cap space into the next year so I guess it doesn't really matter al that much.
