I would like to say optimistic, but - until I see him perform in an actual game and not just practice, I will have to go with "worried".

I'm of the unsure opinion because the guy hasn't kicked consistantly for over two years now, so I'm ready to see if Gramatica can turn back into "Automatica"....

Unsure about 2 things.

One of course would be just to make freaking FG's. It would be nice to feel confident when attempting them. I don't care who is kicking as long as there going through the uprights.

Second would be Parcells and him game planning back to a more conservative offense now that he feels somewhat confident with the kicking situation. He has already stated that we were playing DIFFRENTLY because of the loss of confidence in Vanderjact.

I don't want to see this happen. The offense has been clicking on all cylinders as of late. It seems a perfect fit for Romo and his style of play. I hope we continue on this course and keep playing aggressive.

Ok is the right choice in my book.At this stage he won't be worse than Vandy.I play soccer and trust me if you lose ur confidence shooting penalties it is hard for u to get it back.Same can be said about kickers.

I don't think that BP will change the game plan to much. He sees the success,, but I do think he was referring to specific situations. Take for example the game against Indy right at the end,, I bet my last dollar that there is no way, BP goes for that 8 yd slant to TG that sealed the game, if he had confidence in the kicker,, simply run the ball, take the 3,, make it a 2 score game. That is playing the percentages and smart.. but because he didn't have confidence in Vandy,, he put the ball in the air, which is a huge risk in that situation. I think that is what he is referring too, not changing the gameplan.

He is making the kicks in practice at least. We didnt have that before.

We cut Vanderjagt because he wasnt making kicks even in practice.

Dito! Will have a horseshoe, a 4 leaf clover and a rabbits foot in my pocket when he trotts out there to kick a 45 yarder for the win!

Get rid of the rabbits' foot. It didn't do the rabbit much good, and this guy is a kicker. Bad sign. :D

Not so much about Gramatica the kicker, but by the Cowboys' organization. The decision to cut Vanderjagt was very difficult, but the Parcells and Jones had the common sense, commiitment, humility, resolve, etc. to pull the trigger.

IMO, this is one of Jerry Jones' finest moments. A lesser owner / GM wouldn't be willing to face reality, cut his losses, take the salary cap hit, and take the ego hit of so obviously being wrong about the signing in the first place.

In years past (e.g., before the Parcells hiring), Jerry's ego and almost delusional optimism got the best of him and got in the way of the franchise. But he's shown a great deal of growth/maturity since then. It is a pleasure to see how much more effective Jerry Jones has become in recent years. Hats off to him!
