I guess they could add it to whatever they work out with Martin. I'm still wondering if it's a more money thing or getting next year's money gauranteed.

Yup. I'm sure his/agent mindset of securing a new deal that will give him a new signing bonus, guarantees, term etc outweighs the 50k a day fine.
Chris Jones is going that route too this offseason.

And I can’t remember the last time a guy held out and actually had to pay the fine.
A player who holds out during training camp, which opens in July, can be fined $50,000 per day, which is up from $30,000 under the previous collective bargaining agreement. The previous CBA also allowed teams to forgive accumulated fines once a deal was reached, but that is no longer an option unless the absent player is on a rookie contract.

No. The fine money goes to the league, whom distributes it to charities, along with a fund that assists former NFL players in need.
Does it get treated as a charitable deduction on the player’s tax return?

Given my “philosophical“ bent the thought that my money went to “charities” of the NFL’s choice turns me purple.

Thank you and I will not go with the family tradition of shooting the bearer of bad news.

...lol.... @$50k a day. Best to fire the agent and replace one, with better pragmatism.
I have not seen often when the fine is actually levied; and to be blunt when you are talking tens of millions of dollar 50G ain't that much
