2nd round pick out of NC. Recently cut by the Giants (Shut up Mickey Spags).
We loved the Marinelli pickup because of his ability to maximize the talent we have on the D line.
Seattle is working him out now, and Detroit is interested. Is there something i'm missing here?

Goodness, I've never seen such hubbub over a guy who has averaged four tackles a season.

This has been brought up a ton already. Not for anything more than a look-see min. deal.

Exactly, why would you want to sign a former 2nd round draft choice, who is a natural DT, when you have a free agent you traded for, who was a star in the arena football league the past few years. You people need to think before you post.

You're right, there has never been a second round bust.

ya know, sometimes players don't play well in a certain system or with a certain coach. sometimes a change of scenery can make a huge difference in someone's ability to produce. With our current need for depth on the DL, I'm not opposed to considering young players with his pedigree, cause ya never know.

I've been watching football way too long to count anyone out...there are a ton of people that look like busts until they are put into the right system. I'm not saying out system is right, but if anyone knows if it is it would be the Cowboys coaching staff. If they bring him in I think it would be because A. he's affordable and B. show's the talent to be used in our system.

Marinelli worked Austin out extensively before his draft and if Rod isn't interested there may be a reason.

Kid is 24 years old. What exactly would it hurt to give it a try? We are thin as crap and in this case reward > risk.

I'll never understand why some people, even under dire circumstances, refuse to believe available players are worth looking into. I wonder if Von Miller got cut tomorrow, there'd be people against even the idea of working him out.

Type in Marvim Austin 2012 in youtube.

You'll see pretty quickly why we don't want him.

He's just a guy and a dime a dozen player.

They'd say NO! "If he's so good, then why is he available" lol

Marvin Austin failed to impress when he was actually on the field, but he only played 8 games with the Giants.

Giants fans were extremely high on this guy/extremely hopeful, but after the preseason last year they had seen enough... Austin was a bust. The odds were against him this year.

Leave no stone unturned, but I really think Austin is a waste of time.

Yea but you guys do have to realize that when a team let's go of a player especially in the NFL there is a REASON. I know people hate Mickey for his "If he's so good why is he available...." comments but its true. Would the Cowboys ever release Dez? Demarco? Lee? Romo?
