(For the few that were considering bringing him in...)

With almost a half-dozen teams expressing interest in Matt Jones in recent weeks, the former Jacksonville Jaguars receiver will work out Tuesday morning with the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to league sources.

Jones, who caught 65 passes in 12 games in 2008, has been considered by teams that are looking for a big target at receiver, capable of picking up first downs and creating matchup problems in the red zone.

Jones is 6-6, 228 pounds and was a first-round pick by the Jaguars before encountering off-field problems that led to his release this offseason.

The Tennessee Titans had him atop their wide receiver free-agent list after an impressive workout by Jones until a special-teams need changed their priority.

The former Arkansas quarterback who converted to receiver once ran a 4.37 in the 40, though his speed never translated into a consistent deep threat.

Among the teams contemplating Jones are the Cowboys, Dolphins, Jets and Bears, sources said.

The Bucs' 0-5 start has been marked by miscues, including a number of dropped passes by the receiving corps.

I hope so, because it will stop all the ridiculous threads about us needing to go after a crackhead here.

A crackhead? What are you, 80? First off he got charged with cocaine possession, not crack, there's a difference. He was a star Quarterback in college and a 1st round pick in 2005, chances are he's been treated like royalty throughout college and probably got caught up with the party lifestyle. He could get any girl he wanted on campus, you're delusional if you think those guys don't party.

He got busted with a few hundred bucks worth of cocaine, he's made some mistakes, and he's one of the few in the NFL that has actually had to man up to them. Do I need to remind anyone of Irvin here?

I wouldn't have minded giving up some scraps for him, he's an outrageous talent who probably has a chip on his shoulder.

I'm not condoning his behavior but these are the times we live in. The times where Phelps, an 8x olympic gold medalist, partakes in recreational marijuana. You can be nieve about how these superstars live their lives, but you're going to be hard pressed to find anyone that hasn't done some stupid things, especially when these guys were given fame at such a young age.

I don't even need to start on the NFL players I went to school with or the stories about our own Barber during his days at Minnesota.

You have stories about Marion Barber being a crackhead in college?

Screw crayton. He talks all this crap all week about quitting if we lose to the chiefs then gets lucky that the refs blow a whistle early or he would have two turnovers on Sunday. Not to mention a few easy dropped passes. No man, screw that guy

dis I mention we would have won a playoff game if it weren't for him?

Looking at his case it's not clear that he ever actually used cocaine. He failed a drug test for alcohol because he drank beer at a golf outing.

I don't believe he's very talented, but I also think he's received too strong of a bum rap for his problems off the field.

He may receive a bum rap from the fans, but it is very telling that no team has signed him up to this point. Teams pay to find out about players and their off the field character, so they weigh the pros and cons of that player. Apparently the GMs and coaches think Jones negatives outweigh his positives enough to not sign him even to a minimum salary.

Not a crackhead, but other things. I'm not one to air out dirty laundry, especially for something I don't agree with personally, but let's just say he had a good time in college. And I for one am glad he did!

yeah, because really, Dallas cowboys have their fair share of crack, dope and cocaine heads, you know, Nate Newton, Mark Tuinei, Michael Irvin, etc.... those guys are OK though, but a a guy that has clearly made every step to get help, he doesn't get a chance in dallas,We prefer gun runners and make it rain gangsters
