Matt Moore starting in Carolina?

This may have already been posted, but David Carr is so bad and Vinnie is so old and hobbled that 95%, my best guess, of Carolina Panther fans believe that the only possibility of a Panther win is if Matt Moore starts. I agree. Moore looks far more composed in the pocket. Might have been a good pick up by them one day.

I didn't watch the last game but I read that it was obvious the Panthers toned down their offense considerably because of Carr's struggles. That's something you do for a rookie, not a veteran starter like Carr. I always thought it was more about his environment than about him, but I guess I was wrong.

Carr has apparantly got a back injury. If it's a bad one, every single movement will cause a lot of pain, much less athletic efforts against other good players trying to wallop you. Add that to his gunshy past and the tremendous expectations he got saddled with, and that spells BAD NEWS.

He would probably have been much better off with a quiet year as a back up for an organization with a good QB coach.

Tony Romo will be in Dallas for a decade, God willing, and that's all i care about.

I remember quite a few people who wanted us to trade for Carr to backup Romo

maybe it was just 1 or 2 people

How did Carr fall so badly?

Living in NC I get the Panthers feed each week. I thought Carr was a good signing and his problems were a weak OL in Houston. After seeing Carr play, his problem is he holds onto the ball way too long. He makes Bledsoe look fast in the pocket. He simply will not throw the ball until well after the receivers make their break, and he has a wind up in his throwing motion that takes forever. He will never be more than a mediocre back-up. I am glad the Cowboys did not waste money on him.

Carr just looks scared in the pocket as if he's reading the defensive linemen instead of the receivers those formstive years in Houston ruined whatever chance he had of being a solid NFL QB

I wanted Carr and to be honest, I still believe that would have been an ideal situation for him. Carr does not need to be playing right now. Carr needs to be working on his mechanics and getting his body right. Carr has talent. He needs coaching and time for all those head shots to clear. Then, he may just end up being a pretty good option for somebody. What he ended up with in Carolina was exactly what he didn't need IMO but what the heck, I think it's up for him now.

I don't see much hope in Carr. It goes way beyond mechanics, which were always unconventional. He takes forever to get through his progressions, and he has absolutely no natural feel in the pocket. He's the anti-Romo. Maybe he needs to be the first failed football player to try his hand at baseball.

I don't know if Moore is the one who got away or not, because Carolina's situation is so bad right now that Chad Hutchinson might be starting for them now. I did like him in the preseason, but it's not like he tore it up when he was in the game a few weeks ago. He threw a floater that his WR made a great play on, but that was about it.

I would add that he needed to get his confidence back as well. As it is, he isn't and will not get that in Carolina.

Wow. there will be some great QB play in that game. Harrington, Moore, possibly Testeverde, Chris Redman.

What a crap list of QBs. The sad part is that these guys will play b/c David Carr and Byron Leftwich are out. Being the backup to Carr or Leftwich really says something about how terrible those 4 guys above are.
