6-1 #223

Wells finished his career with 165 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, six sacks, 14 PBUs and one interception. The former Lawrence County High School standout actually began his career as a safety before playing outside linebacker the past two seasons. But Wells also spent his time in coverage and was considered the team's best cover linebacker.

On Wednesday he was put through drills at both positions.

"I worked out at linebacker and defensive back," said Wells. "It is hard to tell where I may play and different teams like me at different positions."

I would put him at WLB before playing him at safety.

I was thinking a few days ago that Wells would probably be a very good nickle LB.

This was my thought as well. But lately I am thinking he could play the Kam Chancellor role at SS if we start Rivers/Carter (SAM), Ro/Hitchens (MIKE) and Lee/Durant (WILL). Church plays SS right now but he could be a salary cut (Wilcox can also play SS). If coverage is already his forte (current problem with our safeties), adding more speed and physicality on the field could not hurt.
