Mavs Trade Luka to Lakers

Not in same universe.
Fans sided with Jimmy over Jerry about 10-1. even though Jimmy wanted to get out of here back to South Florida.

Nico has cut his own throat and will never get another GM job.
If you want to trade Luka you get a lot more than he did, point blank period.
This will join his handling of Steph Curry negotiation for Nike as all-time goofs.

Cuban is on record as saying just that and he is positioning himself to take over Team President as DuMont is set to take over as CEO of Sands.
I’m talking about the fan outcry. Not comparing the moves in comparing the crying. It’s sick and pathetic. I get why you cry over losing Jimmy he got us rings.

Nico was the scapegoat for the Nike deal and he’s the scapegoat now. Under Armour have Steph stock in the company. Nike though simply being Nike that’s all it took.

Nico has made some solid moves. Kyrie, Marshall, Livrly, Gafford and PJ. He built a good team. Which is why I don’t believe the Luka deal was him. Solely anyway. He’s taking it to the chin though.

My man, I like you as a poster but this stuff you are typing is just dumb.
Like beyond the pale nonsense made up by a PR firm using AI level dumb.

The Mavs can't even field a team right now and you are on here agreeing with the lowest bball IQ poster we have looking at each other and nodding over how great Mad Dog 20/20 is compared to a highly rated Spanish tempranillo.

Nico called Steph, Seth in his meeting with him!! Nike has the biggest stars, and they didn't NEED Steph at the time, but they sure underestimated his value to the brand. He and LeBron were the two biggest names to my AAU teams. That was 10 years ago. Steph has the #1 selling jersey and LeBron #2 TODAY. Thats a major gaffe Nike made because they were too big to fail and too good to do their homework. Nico showed up with his Kobe selfie and thought it was all too good to pass up for Steph. This is the same mistake Converse made that allowed Nike to get Jordan and take over the world. Nike is currently hemorrhaging value. They badly need to sign Cooper Flagg.

The Mavs trajectory is so bleak it is like a crime novel. They can't even sign 10-day contracts. They are at the minimum number of players required to start basketball games, but they aren't even finishing the game with 8 guys. The latest injury was two guys running into each other taking both out. --will shock zero Mavs fans to know one of those guys is Dwight Powell.

Nico was the one who initiated the trade talks with LA, and he was the one who took the trade to DuMont. That is the story the Mavs front office all agree happened. So, if Nico is a scapegoat, he is the one scapegoating himself. He is saying he made the trade, and he will be proven right over time. But he is wrong. Obviously wrong. Every day that passes makes the trade look worse. Kyrie's injury ends the window to win with AD so now they need to trade off AD this upcoming off-season. The entire franchise and fan base is now watching and cheering for every loss because it adds ping pong balls to the hoppers so they can get that 3% chance at a miracle occurring.
Nico wanted Luka to work harder off the court in the off-season and in rehab. Those are fair wants. But he grew petty in trying to get his way and fired an excellent Casey Smith as trainer. Smith is ELITE at his job. And now the guys are all injured. Shockingly bad decision-making by Nico.

I was praising Nico 2 months ago!!! I didn't have any ill will for the guy. But you make a move like trading Luka for a centerfold from 10 years ago and your every miss gets amplified. People are going to hold losing Jalen Brunson for nothing against you. They are going to laugh in your face that AD played less 3 quarters after you traded for him with a bad groin and didn't attach any escalators to the deal if couldn't play this season. Even the small move of Grimes for Caleb Martin looks insanely bad unless you just really wanted to tank.

Nico is a running joke right now. Not Mavs fans but just basic NBA fan accounts are making fun of him daily on social media. Comedians are using him as a punchline. The only thing funnier is two guys on this forum arguing about it in his favor.

I am not in favor of the trade. I’m just not crying over it. There’s nothing I can do about it. I don’t care what twitter accounts or comedians do. They laughed at Jalen Hurts and he’s holding a Lombardi. That’s just gonna come with it.

Let me say it once again I have no problem trading Luka injustice would’ve wanted more. But just because I didn’t like the deal doesn’t mean I’m gonna talk stupid. I’ve seen AD play. He’s a top 10:guy in this league. He can’t get healthy. That’s a huge issue.

And I don’t believe Nico had the power to trade Luka. I just don’t. I think he’s the scapegoat. There’s always a fall guy. Someone needs to take the death threats.

As far as Steph goes…..go and see what Under Armour gave him and see what Nike offered. You will see why Steph
Signed.

An upstart company known as Under Armour offered $4 million per year plus a signature shoe and the chance to become the face of the company. Nike, whose offer was worth $2.5 million per year, declined its right to match the Under Armour money.

But Nike's meeting went horribly wrong when one of their representatives mispronounced Curry's name, calling him "Steph-on" instead of "Steph-en." Even worse, a repurposed PowerPoint slide displayed Kevin Durant's name.

--So just to be clear: This wasn't UA ownership stake, and Nike had the right to match because they had him signed. They botched the meeting by ALL accounts. And SC has become Under Armour's biggest success story with 10 Curry releases.

--AD is NOT a top 10 guy in the league. He has been voted a top 10 guy ONE time in the last 5 years. --He WAS playing like a top 10 guy earlier this season.
--Zero Mavs fans sleep better at night based on your tear count but they would all sleep MUCH better if Nico were fired today.
--Luka was not my fave Mav currently much less all-time but any idiot pretending he wasn't a generational star is beyond help and sadly they exist on this forum.

I am not going to argue credibility over nonsense when everything I have posted has played out exactly as I said it would over these weeks since the trade happened.
