Max protect screws up the running game.

There is just no where to run. You constantly have 8-9 men in the box.

If you spread them out just to run, then they will catch on and know when the run is coming because they know we have to max protect.

i like the 3 WR, 2 RB sets and 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB set much better ....it offers more flexability than playing 2 TEs

I agree, especially with Julius Jones, he is much more comfirtable finding gaps when you spread the offense with 3 WR sets than have 10 guys trying to create a hole againd 10 defensive guys. Too much crowd for JJ's style

Correction. NEEDING to run max protect screws up the running game. Why? Because it means your OL isn't getting it done.

Catch 22. Spread out the offense and the D gets a blitz woody because no one is there to protect DB. We just haven't burned people enough for them to get out of the box, regardless of what set we're in. Key and Witten really need to start making teams sorry for doing that. 12-15 yd chunks would back people up, not just 50 to Glenn.

You haven't been paying much attention. Teams are keeping both safeties back to take away our deep ball.

We just have to stop using 3 skill players to pass protect.

It should be 2 at the max.

I think we are better served with both in the backfield whether it be in TE and RB or 2 TE's. One serving either side of the line.

Line up 3 WR or 2 WR and Witten in the slot.

That's why you have to be able to run well - it forces them to go to a cover 3 look and bring a safety into "the box."

That seems to be what this offense is missing. I cannot for the life of me remember any plays that were designed to be between 10-20 yards. Makes it a lot easier for the defense to run a zone if we are running behind safetys and in front of LBs. This is an area where witten and key should be exceptional.

We see eye ball to eye ball. Where are the draw plays? The quick passes to Key and Glenn like we did in the Denver game? Julius NEEDS space to work with. Open the thing up. When is Julius going to cut back? What happened to him. I think Parcells messed him up.

BP and his MORONIC bleating about negative plays- JJ had some last year, no arguement, but he had more BIG plays- and THAT is what is important. He did that by cuting back and looking for a hole no matter where the play was designed to go. And when you have an O line that is as pathetic at run blocking as this one is, the designed play rarely had even a CREASE. Not to mention having to dodge the D in YOUR OWN BACKFIELD a lot of the time. But BP will not admit this and JJ is totally under his thrall. Add to that using two hands to hold the ball most of the time- that takes away some quickness and balance.

Teams don't need to play 8-9 in the box. They can stuff our running attack with 7. They can also rush the passer with just 4 down lineman.

catch 22
spread them out and get your qb killed
bunch them up and get you rb stuffed
the answer is much better blocking form the oline.then it won't matter

To be fair, JJ did have a cut back run on sunday that got him a nice chunk of yards, but that was the first ,on I had seen in a very long time. I like how he bursts into holes, but he has to decide when to be patient and let a play develop before bursting through it, or if the play has totally gone to crap and get what you can out of it. The guy is like an 18 year old at the girls dorm, trying to hit every hole as fast as he can and only going for short bursts. :D

Yes but he also had a line with, at least the left side and the center, playing very well in his big games.

Put Bledsoe in the shotgun and beat them a few times and they will back off.
