With the talk that last year the Boyz were going to select Max Unger, Center and of course many saying Pouncey maybe better I have a question. We already have Gurode a Pro Bowl Center. Why would we be looking at the Center Position? I realize there is a Depth need but would you spend your 1st Round pick on a Backup?

How is Unger doing in Seattle? Haven't heard much on him

Because they have cool offensive lineman names. It's just too hard to pass them up.

Unger could play multiple positions and it was the second round. Great value.

What's it going to be then, eh?

A hint.

What position would have an automatic starting job waiting on a rookie?

Did people become Cowboy fans just yesterday? We never ask rookies to play substantial roles their 1st year. Even if we draft Iupati, he's not going to see any time in '10. Suh either for that matter. Still, do you pass those 2 players up? Hell no.

Btw, do you guys really want Gurode to be the starting C for the foreseeable future? I don't. I'd prefer that the thinking of the line be placed on someone else's shoulders, er, head.

He did start a few times but also struggled. No surprise, that Seattle line was devastated by injuries again.

Most centers can also play guard, so if we draft a guy who'll be ready to play at some point this season, he will likely play in Kosier's spot. Down the road they would move to center

I still don't understand this kind of logic, maybe it's just me. You are going to draft a center in the first and just plug him somewhere else? How about taking a true guard (or another position of greater need) and addressing backup center another time or later in the draft?

If you think he's the future at C, but feel the time for him to play there isn't then, you plug him into another position where he could reasonably contribute earlier.

To add to this, Pouncey played Guard his freshman year at Florida, then moved to Center for his Sophmore and Junior seasons. He kind of went the opposite path of Gurode, who played Center his first two seasons at Colorado, then moved to Guard.

Amen.

He may be big and strong, but he's not the most "cerebral" center in the league for sure.

Pouncey will likely be the highest rated guard when we pick, even though he's a better center. Like Unger last year.
