I listened to Bradie James and Jason Witten among a few other players, along with Marcus Spears comments about pass rush on 3-4 defense. Just maybe, the problem is true desire to win, to excel, or the opposite some players are happy just being average.
First, Witten stated something along the lines that there was loud crowd noise, but they are pro players and that shouldnt affect them. Yet, at the last 3 games to my memory, Witten has jumped offsides in each game, at least 4 times or so in all regular season games this year. That is lack of execution, desire, motivation to me.
Next, a friend of mine pointed out to me, that the one certain side of the offensive line has been moving more than the other side, even the wrs when they jump. Is that due to the other QB playing now, and he is moving his face away from that side and barking the commands and the players cant hear his voice???????
Then, you take notice of what Marcus Spears mentioned about the 3-4 defense whereupon Spears stated that or something like it. That in 3-4 defense, Fergueson, Spears and Canty will not get sacks, due to the defense, their main job is to stop the run, then funnell things to Ware and Ellis to get sacks. Isnt that the wrong attitude?
If i am not mistaken doesnt Seymoure, other DT from the Patriots get sacks, granted they dont get alot, but they still get sacks.
To me it seems like the attitude of the players is, oh hum, we can win one, then lose one, it will be ok, then we can lose another, we dont have to play hard, we can make mistakes on the field, it will be allright, the coaches are very demanding on discipline, so we can do what we want.
Its like, lets just play, work, then go home at 5pm, we dont have to stay after 5pm like the great former cowboys did, like Rayfield Wright would stay after pratice with young Harvey Martin, to help him grow into dominant de he was. Or like Roger Staubach would stay after pratice with Drew Pearson to become better, or stay and watch film study.
Its like these young players like Witten, J Jones, Crayton whom parcells stated that he had some mental mistakes yesterday, M Spears, Canty, Fasano-whom is a rookie, but at least he is on team playing compared to 1st round draft pick Carpenter whom cant get on the field. Maybe some of this is coaching too, that some coaches are doing their jobs, or kicking the players butts like they should.
Its something mental for sure, to me, lack of discipline and desire to pay the price to win and excel.
