Cowboys C Travis Frederick: "The thing I like about football the most is that you get to do things on the field you can't do off the field." (wink wink)

Gotta like that -- he likely will never be a guy who looks fluid and textbook out there but interior linemen aren't going to like facing him -- that can be huge for NFC East games where those DTs have to see him twice (and sometimes three times) in a year

I agree and also the intimidation factor once he's known by defensive lineman throughout the league. As soon as he gets a reputation for being a mean nasty bad *** just knowing what they're about to run into can throw their game off.

We definitely need more guys with a bit of a nasty edge to their games to bring the team into better balance. I want them all to be gentlemen and responsible citizens off the field but a few of them need to be mean out there to bring that attitude of toughness and intimidation to the football team.

On defense we had Rat. I think Church can bring a bit of that but Safeties have to walk a thin line out there these days. Lee, Ware, Carter, Hatcher and Spencer just seem like nice guys out there. On offense we haven't had anybody since Colombo went down and Barber started tip-toeing out there. It'll be great to have a guy out there like TFred to stand up to the defense out there. It'd be nice if we could add someone else like him to the OL.

That first practice will be worth watching. Fred going against Rat.

What I have liked about the reports is he is at 317 lbs. I think that him keeping his weight under control is going to be the single most important issue for him.

He wore down late in games last year. Now he was the workhorse for a run heavy Wisconsin line but he wore down nonetheless. He was playing at 340+ by most accounts though. He was 312 at the combine and despite talk of him being a plodder, I find it credible that he will surprise us with his agility being 25 lbs less than he was.

Mean streaks are great and I love the notion that he will tear someones head off to win but I want to see that for 4 quarters. I would also add that he does have a reputation for being dirty. So many teams complained about his holding etc. I don't think people understand holding is seldom called when its the insides of the shoulder pads.

Strong like bull, agile like lion and savage like badger. I like the notion.

He said he is coming in at 6'3" 320. He might be the biggest center in the NFL.

I find it amusing since everyone worried that Costa was too small at 6-3 and 314 pounds.

So 6 pounds swings you from one of the smallest to one of the biggest?

The irony is that Costa was the strongest interior OL we had the past two years and was the one most capable of taking on monster NTs. He dominated Solilai in the latter part of his first starting season and was throwing around the Ravens' interior OL in his start last year. He was really coming on. It is this ability that just makes me wonder if we aren't better off putting Costa at OG since he always had some trouble snapping and then getting into his blocking. He needs to get his hands out fast to block because of his short arms so playing Center put him at a huge disadvantage in that regard.

My dream OL (feasible dream, that is) for next year:

Tyron B.Moore TFred Costa Parnell

Put Bern, Killer, Weems and Cook on the bench

If we don't sign Moore then:

Tyron TFred Bern Costa/Livings Parnell

Put Killer, Weems, Cook and Livings/Costa on the bench.

Yes you are correct. He would be the biggest starting center in the league. Probably one of the strongest as well.

I think the main complaint was about Costa's short arms.

He had an issue getting set early enough in pass pro back in 2011 that caused him to give some ground on plays because he was slightly off-balance, and people complained that he couldn't anchor because of it. Coupled with the 'short arms' catastrophe, he got a rep for not being big enough in the middle.

Man, I just wanna be a sponge man, I just wanna absorb everything like a sponge. I just wanna pick people's brains and absorb stuff like a sponge so I can be a good football player.

That's me paraphrasing 50% of NFL rookies.

I only see Tfred at Center. I will be thoroughly disappointed if he moves to guard. The Center needs to be the smartest player on the line, and in most cases, the team. I'm tired of idiot C's. This guy is super bright.

I'm guessing that the OL will probably be:

T. Smith-----Costa------Fredrick------Livings-----Parnell
