I haven't been crazy about his offensive philosophy or his attachment to the shotgun formation.
But after a look at the 12 playoff teams this year, it's apparent that offensive balance is obsolete and you have to pass to win in today's NFL.
In short, if you didn't have at least twice as many passing yards this season as running yards, you aren't in the tournament. If you did, you were at least in contention the last weekend if you passed for 4000 yds (Houston and Pittsburgh). The exceptions are the Jets, Ravens and Bengals, who are in the playoffs with less than twice the passing yards, and the Giants who more than doubled their run yards and had over 4000 passing but were still eliminated 2 weeks ago.
So if Romo is more comfortable throwing from the shotgun, go ahead. This is a passing league now.
