I know he appears to be given a pass but I don't think he will use the same approach to offensive playcalling as he did last year... the realization that the offense needs to be creative and not so predictable did not go unnoticed and he and JG probably know what the end result will be if things are not changed next year
nothing wrong with the 90's approach used where they only succeed if the top tier players are all available
....next man up philosophy will be the mantra for next year if anyone goes down

Well, I'm torn because I liked most of Linnys product when we were 13-3 when we had a mostly healthy team and Dak playing lights out. Felt like he finally had the team he wanted. Then this year he couldnt call his way out of a paper bag. Not having Zeke for a spell didn't help along with OL issues, but am interested to see what it looks like next year.

I'm not sure he has the ability to just change what he's done his entire coaching career.

Some guys have that innate ability to stay one step ahead of defenses by adjusting on the fly.

Others, like I fear Linehan is, just rely on their experience and what has worked in the past, and hope to out-execute the other team.

Can't teach an old dog new tricks. And Linehan is an old dog.

Linehan is calling plays but it is still Garrett's offensive playbook. Don't blame Linehan for that. It "seems" that Linehan has gotten more control over the offense and that should hopefully mean more of his offense or at least more complicated patterns that won't allow defenses to sit on predictable routes.

It's hard to believe that anyone gets the message when the messenger is Jason Garrett. His pony express approach is outdated and there's not much evidence that he's monitoring the pulse of the team giving diagnosis and treatment plans. Communication seems to be one of the biggest problems in this organization.

I do agree on the 13-3 seemed to have better playcalling.....enter Garrett, for whatever reason Garrett has a history of taking what is working and doing the exact opposite.....his halftime "adjustments" prove that week in and week out........I guess to put his "signature" on it but it's the wrong way to go........if there's one thing Garrett is consistent with, it's being consistently wrong.

I think you have the right idea.

I'm not sure how quickly DAK can adapt to that.

He was really throttled last year for a number of reasons.

Opening up the playbook exposes him I think.

Last year they tried to duplicate 2016 but could not.

So we will see.

I'm hopefully they can.

This league is so quick to adjust..

its a chess game for sure.

Linehan runs garrett's 90's offense. They run a series of plays based on a system. What they do not do is create mismatches.

The truth is that the coaches will look at what worked and what didn't work and make some adjustments. This is what all coaches do and Dallas is no different in that regard.

The problem is that this coaching staff lacks the foresight or ability to make adjustments after defenses adjust to their adjustments. Garrett just believes it's all about execution.

Just because you can see the avalanche coming doesn't mean you have the ability to get out of the way :)

Let’s just hope a full season with zeke changes everything for the offense. Hopefully a few upgrades as well

no, he hasn't gotten the message...the one that needs to sink in is that he and his antiquated system will not work...time to be creative...thus, I don't see him being successful any longer (no creativity in him any longer)...we need some hotshot OC type and then this team takes off on offense - there is enough talent there, although the WRs MUST be improved upon and Witten must be limited, but in the correct offense, they could be amongst the league leaders, especially with Zeke for 16...

I think we do need some new stuff. But we remain a run first team and if we run the ball with authority next year and Zeke plays in all 16 games, I think the rest will take care of itself.

I sincerely doubt they care about what messages the fans send re: their offensive play calling. If they get back to the ~28 points/game or whatever it was they'd been doing recently, they'll probably be ok with their offense.
