The Cowboys have done what they can to fill in some holes at multiple positions. Will not say long term solutions at all and who knows if they are even good fill ins but they have brought in players in positions of need.

We got a LB, DE, CBs (ours and others if Robinson does sign), RB and DT...or let me just copy this for now...

Now the one thing we have not addressed that Stephen Jones said during the offseason was the biggest or most important issue they needed to address....QB

I am hoping this plays out so that it allows us to take a QB at 4 if they like that QB and consider him a franchise player. It would have to be some crazy scenario happen for both Goff and Wentz to be taken before us but I am not sure if they view both as the same level. So maybe Cleveland takes the one we like so we pass on the other.

At the very least it could eliminate some positions that they felt they HAD to take with the first pick like LB, DE or DT. I doubt they would have taken the RB so I left that off but now they don't HAVE to.

One could argue that although they have signed some CBs...they could still opt to sign Ramsey as a Safety to team up with Jones.

Or one could argue they could now draft that QB.

Of course this is all speculation at this time.

Maybe they still decide they want Bosa or Jack with the Idea that RoMac is only signed for a one year deal and the new DE is only three years and could be considered a stop gap for Bosa.

It is just a little nice that we are not forced, or so it would seem, to have to go at one or two positions in a fit of need.

How do you view the DE Benson Mayowa ? Starter or rotational role player ? Are you more excited about his ability than say Mincey or D Lawrence ?

I don't know anything about him so just asking if you or others could add some input.

They (Will McClay) must think he has potential to start otherwise they would have re-signed a vet like Mincey. They must have a lot of faith in Will McClay.

Have no clue how they view him. My guess would be rotational or stop gap.

Like I said, it does not mean they will not still take BOSA.

Just that it opens the draft and does not paint them into a corner...or so it seems.

I personally still think QB is the most likely, and Ive always thought that. However I dont feel we have truly shown our hand. I dont think Morris, Mayowa, Robinson and even Thornton take anything off the board at 4. Thornton is probably the only one penciled in as a starter and I dont think any signings are significant enough to take a players out of play in the draft.

We use FA to fill the roster precisely so we can focus on the best players in the draft. So I agree: nobody is off the board because of anything we did in FA.

I am 100% in on Bosa now, just to be the Cowboyszone foil.

I could easily see Bosa.

Bosa's the most likely pick, in my opinion. Nobody in front of us is likely to take him. He makes sense (though it'd be a mistake) even if one of the QBs is still on the board in terms of our needs. He's safe, and he's pretty much there in most of the scenarios that look most likely for us.

He's probably 4th or 5th on my list of wanted players. But I don't mind him. I'm trying to look at him as the Zack Martin of the defensive line, only he likes to party a little bit. I could live with that in a pinch.

Basically we got :

1 Starter at 1 Tech. But one that is only play 30% of snaps likely meaning intirior rushers are still needed

( If Robinson signs)2 potential starters at CB. But one that is on a 1 year deal, one starter that may still be cut and also only has a year left on his deal, and one starter thats coming off knee surgery. Considering the amount of snaps CBs 1-4 play, any CB we take in the first 2 rounds will likely be in on at least 50% of snaps. I dont see even Ramsey or Hargreaves eliminated.

Mayowa's size and contract likely dictate that he is a subpackage outside rusher. He probably fits in more with a Bosa or Buckner ,who can both move inside, than deters us from drafting them.

As for Morris, I never saw Elliott as a real possibility. The money doesnt match up for what they want to spend at the HB position. But McFadden is a poor scheme fit and playing on a 1 year deal. HB is still very much on the table ok day 2.

I think they do go QB at 4. Always have and will stop believing that once they announce the pick and its not a QB. But still feel like everything is in play still

That's pretty much how I see it, too. QB at 4 is a no-brainer. I think that's what they do, too, but if they do, this is probably the best smoke-job they've laid down in a long time.
It could shape up ok if they add the QB in the first and a RB somewhere along the line and use the rest of the picks primarily to bolster the defense or to get in position to get the players they really like at the spots where they represent good value.

To me its very odd both Jones contradicted themselves about a QB at 4 within weeks of each other

If I had to pick right now, I would say QB at # 4.
Perfect scenario - 1st. round QB Wentz or Goff, can see the logic for either. Not sure Moore as the primary backup is an improvement from last year, but don't see many options now.
2nd. round another DE - think there will be a few to choose from. Picking this high to start each round is a blessing this year.
3rd. round DT 3-tech or 1-tech - before the depth runs dry.
4th. round (2) Either RB or CB, but would love to get Perry OLB here.
6th. round (4) Depth, depth and more depth - need another TE somewhere, C/G combo, safety. And if the draft goes anything close to this - they can do whatever the hell they like to finish out the draft and I'll be a happy camper.

Please let us draft Wentz. After the report that hue jackson raved over Goff, maybe we have a good shot at him. As long as chargers don't trade out of that spot.
