Maybe without TO first 3 weeks or so, do we have cap room to get Grady Jackson?

Ok, our strenght this year looks like is our defense, what if we will miss TO first 3 weeks of camp?

DO we have enough cap room to go get Grady Jackson for backup DT-NT? Granted we have 2 young nose tackles in johnson and stanley. But, if were going to be without TO first 3 weeks or so, do we need to stack our defense, since the Commanders just went and got T J Duckett?

That would finish our defense to good backups. As you all know, were covered at defensive ends, linebackers and defensive backfield. But it is iffy at NT, so with the Commanders getting T J Duckett a big bruising back. Granted to me, he isnt all that he is cracked up to be, but he is a big brusiing back. If we go and sign Grady Jackson, a big DT, whom can play NT too, he could backup Jason Fergueson pretty good, we would have a solid one two punch on defensive line.

That would give us a nasty nasty defense, till TO gets well.

I think Stephen Jones said we had about 10 million in cap money left, or close to that.

i still think we need to go get a dominant young OT or OG too, but everywhere else we are loaded at backups. And our young WR's Rector, Hurd & Austin did pretty good in NO. Dont forget we will get Crayton back in abouit 2 more weeks, too.

WE pay Owens regardless of whether he is healthy or not. His injury has no affect on the cap.

Guess the Cowboys worked out a special rebate plan for injured players that no other team knows about. :p:

I don't think you would have missed anything here if you had never opened the thread ;)

Drats, sorry didnt know Jackson signed with Atlanta. They are loading up for this year too, with getting Leslie.

I am just thinking we need a big backup NT, if anything to rest Fergueson.

By TO missing 3 weeks or so, I meant, I am hearing reports are now surfacing that he has a continual problem-history problem with hamstring injuries and groin problems with San Francisco and Eagles.

If you want him to play and be healthy, then he needs to get about 3 solid weeks of rest, no workouts, then 2 weeks of timing with Drew.

We have a ball game this Saturday, then next Thursday, till regular season, thats about 2 solid weeks. Then first week of regular season, that would give TO 3 solid weeks to rest his hamstring and groin injury. Then, 2 weeks to get timing down with Drew. That would put you about 3rd or 4th week of regular season before he plays.

What does that have to do with signing Jackson though ?
How do the two situations go hand in hand ?

Maybe he wants to see Grady catch some passes

OK I get that but what does it have to do with roster space or cap room. Him not being able to play creats neither for us.

Aside from the Falcons signing him.... the fattest, laziest player in the NFL + Bill Parcells = Not a good combination

Ok how it goes in hand, if we are going to miss TO first 2-3 weeks of regular season, way to offset that is with a stronger defense.

With me so far, our achiles heel is backup NT, everywhere else we are loaded. Granted we have 2 young NT's in Johnson and Stanley, but if we load up at NT backup, then we have a one two punch on defensive line.

If you see what the Commanders just did by getting T J Duckett, and the eagles are looking at big running back Stephen Davis to add to their running game. Then, we need our good defense to be even nastier with a dominant backup NT.

As you know, the key to the 3-4 is the nosetackle, if he doesnt contol the guard and center then you are done. If we had a good backup NT to rest Jason Fergueson, then that should keep us in the games till TO gets back from his injury.

If Duckett and Davis worry you that much you need to come in off the ledge and call some help number, QUICKLY.

So you want to pay this fat lazy slob a full seasons pay for 2 or 3 games? Please come in off the ledge. Its a good thing Atlanta already grabbed him

Give me a break. There's no way I would even think about making a reactionary move because the Commanders picked up Duckett. Who cares?

Defense is the least of my concerns, Dallas has a very good group on defense and good depth behind the starters.

tj duckett
Height: 6-0
Weight: 254

he is smaller than all our linebackers, tell me again why we need to birng anyone in to worry about this guy?

Yes, if we release him before the first game he counts 10 mill same as if we played and paid him because of his signing bonus, but this talk is silly. The man is an elite player whose "chronic" groin produced impact-type stats the last two seasons in Philadelphia.
