didn't know if folks caught this yesterday. Mayock said he talked to numerous coaches, front office folks, scouts etc. Not one person he talked to liked the draft being in May. That extra two weeks is better for the new draft picks to get to there teams and with coaches vs preparing for the draft.

Wonder when it will be next year.

bring it back to April and move it to Texas. Fill Jerryworld with draft groupies. Move it every year.

i liked how mayock refused to grade drafts. in general, i grew to really like the dude.

Way too late in the year for me, the ratings were awesome but that's because of the intrigue surrounding one player and it isn't Jadaveon Clowney. I wonder if the numbers will cloud the league's judgement?

Yeah I agree. When I first saw Mayock a few years back, I wasn't a fan. But now I really like him. (Although he took a step back with his mock draft and us picking Manziel, I am so glad that didn't happen).

Sadly the big rating numbers probably ensure that it will happen unless a lot of the teams raise a big stink about it.

first thing out of goodell's mouth on the 2nd day was a comment about the ratings.

ratings/$$$ comes first to that guy over the good of the game.

Or how about we just appreciate our mothers and do things for them all year round, and not wait for a pre appointed federal day to act like we care so much?

Nice idea but in application, it falls down. Hard to get youngsters to wrap themselves around this idea and, life just gets in the way all too often. However, on the holiday, it should be all about the Mom's to me and it's much easier to make it happen for a weekend or a day, as opposed to all the time but I get what you are saying.

If its much easier to make it happen for a weekend or a day.. then why don't people just do it randomly for a weekend or a day anytime throughout the year? Why is it that everyone waits til they are reminded that they should appreciate their mom on a certain pre appointed day every year? Its silly. It doesn't have to be just about youngsters to me.. even older folks don't appreciate their moms the way they should and the holiday to me is just a joke. People acting like they care so much just because we have a day where everyone is reminded they they should care. It'd be nice to see people take a weekend or even a day or two throughout the year and do it on their own without prompting.. but that doesn't seem to be the society we live in for the most part.

Its Mother's Day! Oh yea, hey mom, just wanted to tell you that you are the best mom ever, just like every other mom is on this day. Lets go out to eat, even though i really would rather be doing something else.. and after that, i can feel proud that i did something for you once this year and go back to generally not thinking about "the best mom ever" at all for another 364 days.

BTW.. i had already been thinking about this subject for awhile before i saw your post, ABQ. Just wanted to make clear that this perspective i have on the subject is in no way a judgement against you or anyone else on this site.

Not taken as such.

I'm sure that things are done randomly, so to speak. I know it happens in our house like that but to me, the Draft should not bump up against Mother's Day. That's just not a real good plan IMO. In fact, it boarders on stupid. The ratings this year were good because this was a unique draft IMO. Very deep with lots of good players and you had the Johnny Football and the Michael Sam thing going on, which really drove ratings IMO. This won't happen every year. Eventually, the Holiday and the Draft are going to become an issue. It wasn't this year because it was the first year it's happened but I guarantee it will if it continues this way.

As to the rest, I stopped trying to police everybody a long time ago. Just can't be done. I hope everybody does the right thing and I try to do for mine. That's about as much as you can do. Would be much easier/better if the Draft did not have to interfere with Mom's Day. If it remains this way next year, it's very likely that I will simply be missing the Draft and that will such out loud but that's what will happen.

Completely agree about the draft, btw. One of the many stupid decisions made by Goodell. Everyone always asks me why he gets boo'ed so badly at the draft every year. I ask them if that is a serious question.

if those draft groupues are anything like the muppets who attended our draft party and looked confused with the martin pick inhope it never comes to dallas

You are right with this statement.
But it was the only event on that weekend. Nothing to counter it. In Dallas it pushed the Rangers off the radar.

I feel this way when our church is packed out on Easter, ... where are you the rest of the year?

I am very blessed to live close to my Mother. I go to her house to visit some during the week. I may stop if she is out in the yard as I drive by.
We talk on the phone almost every day, .. just to keep her updated on my two boys and my grandson.
I pick her up every Sunday to take her to Sunday School, my wife and I sit with her and my Dad each week in church.

My sister and her husband, and my wife and I, bring stuff to Mom and Dad's on Sunday evening for dinner a lot.

If I'm going to the mall or shopping plaza, I'll check with her to see if there is anything she needs.

Like I said, I am blessed that she is near, .. she will soon be 87, that won't always be the case.

Good point Roy.
