Damarious Randall IMO is not a FS,if we draft him to play FS then he will be a big failure.

I do not get how by some miracle, Randall is suddenly a better prospect than Collins.

Mayock just looks like he is trying to appear right when all he is doing is reacting to buzz.

The next time he explains how he suddenly jostles his rankings around without explanation will be the first time.

All the major pundits do it, but he is the worst at it.

Every year I see the draft guys move players up the rankings late in the season. Like you said, I think it has much more to do with what they are hearing from their team sources than last minute evaluations.

Damarious has been getting a lot of attention from NFL teams lately. Some teams, supposedly Dallas included, have Damarious ranked as the #1 safety. Mayock, Kiper, McShay, Matt Miller, etc. want to look accurate and react to what they are hearing, either through actual sources or the media buzz.

Dallas Morning News highlighted the Safety position today.
They had Randle as 5th

On another note; Mayock sure like Jalen Collins at CB a lot. Interesting.
Here also has Gordon over Gurley?

I don't even think the high profile pundits like Mayock, Kiper and McShay do much film evaluation at all. They simply wait until the draft season starts and then act as barometers.

I have a lot more respect for the draft Twitter crowd in terms of getting actual analysis. They also happen to be a lot more consistent from the end of the season when real games are played and a lot less reactive to workouts in underwear.

He does scare me a little. I think it is a concept that any Safety that is not a mid-1st rounder either has issues against the run or the pass. Considering the NFL is such a pass heavy league, you would be picking Randall for his coverage abilities and assuming that he can can improve against the run vs taking better run defender like Collins and getting him to improve against the pass.

I definitely don't see Randall as a 1st rounder. Personally, I would like to get Shaw in the 3rd and make him a FS. He played both Safety and CB in college.

Mayock has Paul Dawson as the #1 LB.

I do think he watches film, at least of the top or so prospects; however, his logic in how he ranks them is always odd.

It reminds me of some of the Broaddus issues. Broaddus can watch film and point out a lot of specifics about a player and he can probably teach fans a lot about details of watching film; however, when it's time to rank players his logic is usually bizarre. Some people are just not logical thinkers.

He did play in the secondary in the NFL and has seen all of these guys and met and talked with them. I actually see him as more as one of the trend setters that others follow along. Some of his secondary predictions over the years have been spot on.
