Mayock's Top 100 prospects unveiled (Chandler Jones #9!)

I'm waiting to see how Goose ranks him. Anyone know when Goose's board is coming out?

I thought I read he isn't releasing one this year.

Goose's board is more based on what he hears.

I thought Mayock's board is based more on his own studying film. I definitely trust Mayock's view of players than McShay and Kiper's regurgitation of what they hear.

Unpopular opinion but DeCastro is a interior lineman, 24 is right about where he should be. Mayock has him as the top interior lineman and rightfully so but love it or hate it, they don't carry a whole lot of value. It says nothing of him as a player, it's just the way it is. I believe he only had Pouncey and spot or two higher at the time.

When ranking a prospect, I don't think you ding him for his position.

Undoubtedly a fair number of players #1 - #23 will have worse careers than DeCastro. I'd say at least one or two fail to play their entire rookie contract.

Blogging the Boys put up a story on Saturday where the author, Tom Ryle, averaged 6 different big boards and mock drafts to show how they differentiated.

David DeCastro was the 7th best talent averaging the big boards while lasting to the 14th overall selection doing the same with the mocks.

Couldn't agree more with this.

I've read it a couple of times on this and other boards.

If true, DMN has lost it's mind.

Their draft content requires a subscription, so I don't know if Goose is part of it this year, but I did see he had some draft related chats up for reading.

Makes no sense. The guy only does one thing well in life. And he just stopped doing it.

I really like Jones. I think the guy has pro bowl potential and just needs coaching. He's huge, strong, fast, hustles and has amazing bloodlines (not just athletic attributes, but clearly both his brothers are hard workers to succeed how they have).

I don't really like a lot of the DT/DE prospects in this draft. Jones and Thompson are probably my favourite. Both would make an immediate impact at such a weak spot on the team.

I would love it if we could get Jones in rd. 1

No DeCastro? Odd....
24th".....

At least it's clear that Mayock truly is grading them as he sees them and not being influenced by the masses. I love it!
Not sue I agree with it, but he has set himself apart here enough we can look back and compare fairly easily.
Good for him

Wow he has Mark Barron ranked #7... If he falls to Dallas at 14 they will snag him.

Gilmore at 8? No freaking way. He is so overrated it isn't even funny.

Cosell has him going third in his film-based mock.

Doug Martin at 17. He could be excellent, but 17....wow

I see he's lovin Barron and Gilmore, which is no surprise. That should make some with worries on Barron breath easier as that is Mayocks wheelhouse.

What's not to like about him?

I said the same thing when he ranked Brandon Flowers like that a couple of years ago. I won't doubt Mayock again on DB's.

Mayock's the best in the biz (on TV anyhow) and trust his judgement. The Jones thing shocks me a bit, but DeCastro doesn't. You don't take guards in the upper half of the first round....if he was that special he would be a tackle.

I watch a ton of sec football. He just doesnt dominate wrs like a top 8 player should. He could be a decent pro cb but i don't like his game. 2nd rnd, sure. First round? No way.

Scar plays a ton or zone coverage, he has very little man coverage skills and most scouts refer to his skills as "raw". Footwork is average and he gets caught flat footed when he is in off coverage. As a sophomore he had a knock on him of getting best deep bc he loses wrs in zone. He got better as a junior but had it happen too often stil. He was a mid 2nd rnd pick until he ran a 4.37 at the combine and somehow slowly rose to the top 15. He is great against the run but really has a lot of learning to do if he is going to live up to his draft pick. He is your typical pretty good player that will get way over drafted thanks to great measureables.
