Mayor asks Titans game be postponed

This is really interesting. The NFL is going to look really bad if the local community is asked to cut back on power and even faces a blackout. The Mayor asks the Titans game be pushed back basically saying if other businesses are being asked to conserve energy and the NFL thumbs their nose at this request.

The NFL has *** money. They will do what they want. Much like the same people telling everyone to conserve energy are not following those rules themselves.

IM aware the NFL will do as they please, but if houses lose power and the stadium is lit up, this could be a public relations nightmare for the league.

If they didn't play on Thursday I could see them pushing it to Monday.

But in order for them to push this game back, it would mean no Thursday night game next week. I don't think the NFL would want to lose that kind of money, even if it means some bad publicity.

I understand it. I woke up today and it was 5 degrees outside with windchill making it even colder. If I lost power because of a football game, I'd probably lose my mind.

Honestly, this stuff is just nuts and dangerous. Just because the Ice Bowl was played because we were a lot dumber as a whole doesnt mean we should continue to be stupid. They used to keep water from players to "Toughen," them up back in the day, as well as run them right back on the field after they got their "Bell rung."

It's a job for the players and coaches. Fans chose to be there.
I don't see the problem.

sure it is a job.... and in my job it would not be allowed to be outside in those teams, as is the case with many jobs.

Linesman work in this. Road construction. Builders, Delivery truckers, etc.
Apparently, you don't work outside. Don't be such a softy.

I spent 4 years in the Marine corps and served in a combat zone... soft and stupid is not the same thing.

Sounds pretty soft to me.
Especially if you're a Marine.
Hell, Navy Seals train for colder than this.
You aren't gonna let the Seals out do you, are ya?

It's not like they don't have $40k heated benches and jet heaters on
every sideline. You're overreacting. Lighten up, Francis.
Sgt. Hulka wouldn't even wear a jacket in this weather.

You are actually comparing military personnel training for combat with NFL players.....lol

You're the one who brought up the military.
I'm just pointing out that, according to you,
you're not tough enough or reliable to do your job
because it's too cold outside...smh. Soft.

I compared other military personnel to you, Marine.
I don't see any Army or Navy vets on here crying about
the weather that you won't be affected by personally.

you are a clown......I dont give one damn about other vets, and I wasnt crying... I said weather like in cleveland is just foolish to play in. I brought up military cause you tried to call me soft, and unless you did what us Marines did... you dont have a clue about soft,... just bounce and stop trying to twist what I said.... clown

You're mad! Lol. You're mad.
The thread is about Tennessee. Not Cleveland.
Call up one of your Marine buddies and complain
about the NFL playing in this weather. I bet they'll call you soft, or worse.

I said don't be a softy and you got offended. You took it wrong.
Also, you made no mention of Cleveland before this post.... and you started this thread.
Do you have dementia or something... not that you would know, if you did... lol

I fail to see what difference an hour makes, but operations for an NFL game begins many hours before kickoff. So I see that might have helped.
