Mazi or Guyton, who are you ready to go to battle with?

Lots of question marks for both players, one has been in the league a few more years, both have the potential to be solid players in the league. With that said, they've struggled as first round picks, but we shouldn't write them off and continue to be patient.

With that said, which player would you pick to go to battle with?? Please give your thoughts

Please refrain from all negative attacks as this is clearly stated in the rules of this forum!

I think Mazi will be an adequate player. I think/hope Guyton can be coached up to becoming a very good LT. But both are just projections based on athletic ability and the dreaded...potential.

Both are trash.

Problem with guyton is he cant be plugged in as guard. So you are stuck with him at tackle.

But Mazi already has proven he aint NFL material. Not even backup worthy. So i take my chances with Guyton as my backup swing tackle.

Mazi just isn't a good player, for a guy who is supposed to be known for his strength coming out of college, he gets turned around and finds himself on the ground far too often. Guyton has more potential but he's still raw
Not so. He's gotten better. Now if he can actually have the same d coordinator and dline coach longer term, that might help. That said, he needs a good player lined up next to him. Our dline stinks.

It's probably not as bad of a question as many think it is. The only real difference is Mazi has struggled for two NFL seasons, Guyton has struggled for just one NFL season.

Guyton
23 years old (June birthday)
668 NFL snaps
1,092 college snaps

Mazi
23 years old (June birthday)
828 NFL snaps
1,227 college snaps

Overall I'm not very high on either player, but both should probably be viewed similarly in terms of development time. Mazi technically has more time in the league, but overall has seen the field just slightly more than Guyton has. Both drafted as high physical traits guys that needed development.

Gun to my head I would take Guyton, but I'd rather have a 3rd option ;)

Potential yes. We agree. But you know what they say about that p word? It gets coaches fired.
The p word is what both players are still living off of though. Yes I would agree that Mazi improved from year 1 to year 2, but that improvement went from probably shouldn't have even made an NFL roster if he wasn't drafted high to a liability starter that should probably be on the bench more than seeing the field.

I have more faith in Guyton developing into a good player than Mazi at this point.

I think we have made a major mistake at DT again, especially if they just throw a mid round pick at a DT.
Logical. Guyton was a rookie playing one of the hardest positions and one he didn’t play much before. Mazi has had two seasons and no real improvement

Don't get me wrong. Mazi don't call me maxi pad, is on thin ice. He's gotta show marked improvement this camp. Remember, he's not shottys guy. He was McCarthys guy. So the staff isn't beholden to him.
