I dont know about you guys but looking at this list of NFC running backs if Barber can keep playing at the level he's been playing at I dont see why he couldnt have a chance to make the pro bowl for the NFC this year. We have enough games that our nationally televised for him to get exposure and he warrants respect around the league from players and coaches. It could happen.

My eyes!!!

I doubt he does unless he starts getting more touches. Some of those other guys have had a bye week and will be catching up or distancing themselves while we are on bye.

I don't think so...

If he's smart he wants a SuperBowl. I hope the team is not really thinking about the NFCE! That gig belongs to the eagles...

No worries. Kowboy's got it covered.

I think he's got a shot given his entertainment value alone.

Thats what I was thinking too. We all have to admit that the pro bowl has become less about overall talent than it is celebrity status in the league, but Barber has the skills thats being recognized throughout the league and NFL fan base and also getting the notoriety

Things to consider:

1. Barber's rising popularity
2. His obvious entertainment value
3. Poor production by NFC RB's not named Peterson
4. Several teams using RB by commity now
5. He's tied for first with 5 TD's in the NFC
6. the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest
7. We're 6-1, and he's a big reason for it
8. Fan voting/Cowboys fanbase is enormous
9. Pressure for him to see more carries

Now, I doubt he's going to keep up with the likes of Peterson or Westbrook in terms of total yardage, but if he stays in the top 4 in yardage and the top 1-2 in TD's...I think he's got a shot.

We seem to sustain drives longer when he is in the game. If that trend continues (and I have been a noted JJ supporter), I think we're forced to switch roles at some point, giving Barber the majority of the reps. If that happens, I think he could be a lock.

After looking over some of these stats, and those on NFL.com...I love the fact that our "slow" running back has the second most runs for 20+ yards AND 40+ yards. He's second only to Peterson.

...and has zero fumbles to AD's two. ;)

No doubt. The only guy truly playing better is AD.

Until yesterday....

It's really surprising that as a violent runner who fights for every inch of space, he has no fumbles thus far.

I don't know that a backup RB has ever made it. It would be a stretch, given how Peterson and Edge are playing, and if Jacobs stays healthy in a feature role he might push, too.

They usually do 3 RB and a FB right? I would say AD and Westbrook are 2 starters, leaving Barber fighting for spot #3. If he doesn't get the lions share of carries week in and week out like he did this last week, he may not make it. Jacobs is starting to put it together despite his injury, Portis, Gore and Foster have this bye to catch up or pass Barber. It will be a close race that hopefully Barber can win.

he has done pretty good with not fumbling (Knock on wood) cause I remember back when he was playing during parcells tenure he had problems with fumbling which was a reason Parcells didnt play him much

It is a bit of stretch, but its slowly becoming apparent that few think of Barber as a backup.

Peterson is a lock barring injury. Peterson and Edgerin are the most obvious candidates to go. Westbrook could make a push if his team picks it up (and he gets isolated against Ellis): . Brandon Jacobs has been fortunate to have played against some week teams in the last few weeks, and is still splitting carries...I doubt he keeps it up. Portis is splitting quite a bit, but he's got a bye to catch up...I forgot about that. Portis has a shot.
I'd put Barber as the darkhorse, but its definitely not far fetched.

I think he doesnt fumble because the defense has to go into a self defense mode when they see him coming. The last thing they are worried about is stripping the ball. They are more worried about getting their a*$es handed to them. You cant bring this man down easily. Try stripping the ball when he is running over you.
