Kind of hard to improve on what Kellen Moore did with the talent given him.
This is a nonsense move to appease the window lickers.
I wanted Moore to go because 1) it puts it all on McCarthy (no fall guy); 2) it moves us on from any ties to the Garrett philosophy; 3) despite Moore's successes, the Garrett philosophy and Moore's version of it ultimately failed in the playoffs; 4) McCarthy's offense has proven playoff success.
Maybe the talent will cause McCarthy's offense to fail here, but I'd rather have that happen then keep banging our head against the same wall. Dallas had the second-best offense in the league (points) in Garrett's first season (2007) and in 2009. They were in the top five several other times. But ultimately, they failed, mostly because of the defense but also because Garrett's philosophy prevented the offense from being able to be elite IMO.
Change isn't necessarily good, but I prefer it to spinning our wheels. Of course, with the GM remaining the same, I'm not sure we can do much more than that.
