Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy on Troy Aikman's comments: "They don't carry any weight with me, because I watch all the tape, I get to go to the meetings, I'm at practice, I'm part of the games. So I have a clear understanding of what and where. Troy's statement in particular, I don't agree with the word selection. There is definitely need for improvement in every position, not just one position that he commented on."

Troy, and almost every other NFL film analyst agree that the Cowboys WR routes are trash. The effort and sharpness of individual players is one thing, but the sheer amount of 5-10 yard stops is just unacceptable.

We have nearly the most static and unimaginative offensive scheme in the NFL. It is not doing us any favors.
Just wait for those new wrinkles we hear about every preseason! Actually, come to think of it, I don't think we heard that this year.

The moment he said he has a "clear understanding of what and where" there should have been a hundred hands raised waiting to ask him why they are so bad at separation and why hasn't he done anything to correct it.

I'm sure he would have just spit out some gibberish about the opposing DB's being "quicker to the ball" and that GPS shows that these guys are trying their hardest.

Absolute fraud.

Man's on cruise control for that paycheck. Someone with little understanding of the game could tell you the scheme is pathetic
The scheme is the intelligent level of the player. We have stupid players just like some fans.

I have a small glimmer of hope in my mind that this year will be like before and we will suddenly open up the offense after the bye and stop being so damn boring with everything. Stop routes, runs straight up the middle, etc. However, MM knows this is his last year and he has no chance of getting extended. He has enough money to support himself and his family. He'll likely just retire after this year, they have no chance of winning the Super Bowl and likely just an outside chance at playoffs, so why even try?
