I asked Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy about the lack of identity and rhythm on offense this was his answer and if it was natural growing pains: "I think clearly, and we knew this coming out of camp, it’s where you are when you do make changes. We knew there were going to be some things in protection that we needed more work on because it’s different. There are things in the passing game we needed to work on that were different. We’ll continue to grow that. I have great confidence in that. I think the run concepts were some of the things that were probably the less new learning segments for our offense, so you work that. Continuity and consistency is obviously what we’re focused on. When you look at the full ball of wax, the five weeks, there has been consistency. No. 1, you have to score points in this league. In the modern NFL, you look at all the critical elements to being a championship football team, scoring points is way up there. We’re clearly in tune with that. but one of the things we want to also focus on because of the strength of our defense is taking care of the ball No. 1, which we did not do in our last contest, and No. 2 is having the discipline and patience if we have to to go the long route. It benefits the time of possession and keeps the defense fresh and playing to its strengths. Those are all visual, philosophical approaches of how you want your team to look. But at the end of the day, those conversations are for establishing menus of how you’re going to run it, throw it, protect it, and as you get into the game it’s no different from this week, you look at all of the elements they bring to the table, coming off a bye week, they’re getting healthy because some players are coming back we haven’t seen a lot of this year, so you factor that in and you select your menu items and you go to work to put together a plan.

I read a few lines, this team is in trouble, he must be the brother of jason garret

Chat GPT took a stab at clarifying, it's a lot vague talk. ... Scoring points is crucial kids.

===

Certainly, here's a summary of what Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said, broken down into bullet points:
  • Lack of identity and rhythm on offense is a concern.
  • Acknowledged that changes were expected after the training camp.
  • Mentioned challenges in protection and passing game due to these changes.
  • Emphasized the need to continue working on these areas.
  • Run concepts were seen as less affected by changes and have been focused on.
  • Consistency and continuity are key goals for the team.
  • Scoring points is crucial in the modern NFL.
  • The team is aware of the importance of taking care of the ball and having patience.
  • Patience helps with time of possession and keeps the defense fresh.
  • The team's approach is based on visual and philosophical strategies.
  • The specific game plan is influenced by the opponent's strengths and the team's needs.
In summary, McCarthy discussed the challenges and changes the team is going through and highlighted the importance of scoring points, protecting the ball, and adapting to the opponent's strengths in their game plan.
damn college wouldve been a lot easier with that with what my professors gave me

LMAO!

After reading MM's statement, I could only think of something called The Off Season. He had all summer to implement the changes he talks about. The season is almost 1/3 over. Maybe he'll get around to it eventually? Probably not...
It’s only how much can get between the ears of QB he can instill , isn’t it ?

When Jerry fired Garrett, Jerry asked Garrett's advice on who he should hire as a replacement. Garrett told him McCarthy. McCarthy is Garrett's chosen successor. Now keep that in mind. The owner asked the guy he just fired...and took his advice.

McCarthy has done a lot of good though...however given the culture Jerry cultivates in the organization almost every head coach is going to have the same issues getting the team disciplined for any length of time.

Probably didn't spend much time in the old barn this off season from the looks of it. To be honest I was turned off from MM as a play caller by something Rogers said about him a long time ago. I do like Kellen Moore and had no choice but to at minimum embrace MM as play caller by default. I do think MM has a better feel for the game flow than Kellen currently grasp. So I'll give Big Mike that. He needs to show his worth as a play caller going forward unless the game has merrily rolled by him he should succeed. Stay tuned ladies and germs.

"We need all the reps we can get."

Sits the starters the entire preseason.

Survey says that was a lie.

This dude is a clown. Dallas is a circus. Jerry is the ringmaster.
Right. If they didn't have the offense on the OL why sit them in preseason because that what it's for?

Man let Schottenheimer call play since he installs them, and McCarthy can be a walk- around Coach again.

If we clearly knew this coming out of camp then why didn't the starters get ANY playing time in pre season?
in case they get hurt, they can learn it as they go. Like is happening right now. The offense is getting ready to click on all cylinders the next couple of weeks.

The coaches suck and the owner. /shrugs

Camp Bubble-wrap sure worked out well. No key players are out long term with injuries. We should do it every year!

Championship!!!

I'm just shocked that no other NFL teams have discovered this winning formula.
