He is 31-11 vs teams under .500 and 19-27 vs teams .500 or better.

This is why we suck in the playoffs. McCarthy brings nothing to the Cowboys during gameday especially in the playoffs. After these past 5 years why are we even entertaining resigning him?

I guess we just like our guys.

So I have no idea what the answer is but how does this compare to other coaches in the league? What’s Sean McVays record against teams over 500? It’s not a bad talking point but some perspective to the numbers would be nice.

Playoff wins are 99% of the time against over .500 teams, so:

McVay - 7-4 in the playoffs.

McCarthy - 11-11 in the playoffs (1-3 with Dallas).

It is easier to win against crap teams than good teams?.. lol

Im not a great MM fan.. but Im not sure thats why we suck in the playoffs, when we have sucked in the playoffs for 3 decades.

Not bad data to look at, but the way my mind works it tells me that McVay has been to a super bowl twice and is only 7-4 in the playoffs? Even if he wins tonight the difference in his and McCarthys winning percentage in the post season is McVay winning just two games. A loss tonight and the difference is one McVay win.

If I get some extra time today Ill look through McVays record against 500 teams because now I'm really curious.

I think the postseason requires a different level of preparedness that I don’t think McCarthy is equipped with. I think he caught lightning in a bottle and the sheer will/talent of Aaron Rodgers in his prime when they won the Super Bowl that year w/Green Bay.

The Dallas Cowboys record is misleading. Yet somehow that misleading record has been used to justify insane contracts to be handed out.

That pretty much can go for most of the coaches most head coaches and coaching Staffs quarterbacks pretty much you dominate and get most of your stats and your wins against even or weaker teams the other records are usually upside down.... Seriously I mean you guys not pay attention I mean it's been posted before like look at some of the best coaches in the league like some of them you wanted to come here and pay $20 million a year or two like Sean Payton he doesn't have a great record against really good teams either I mean hell with Drew Brees he had three losing seasons in a row or three 500 seasons in a row I think they were how can you do that with Drew Brees how can you have Drew Brees for 19 years and only win one Super Bowl how are they different we've already posted how close they are in wreckers postseason wins everything do we need to break this down and let you know that this happens to every player if you want to break it down if you want to just use quarterbacks and head coaches they don't have a very good record against a better teams...

Umm.... McCarthy won a Superbowl.... was it against all sub .500 teams in the whole playoffs and Superbowl opponents?

Rodgers and McCarthy won that Superbowl together. With the help of a damn good GB team that year.

I'm not a huge MM fan, but it could be flipped around the other way an say Aaron Rodgers benefitted from being on a MM coached team that year. I say this because Rodgers hasn't won another Superbowl without MM.... And vice versa.

.. I would say it's either bad luck or unpreparedness.
But McCarthy is a good coach and can win ball games.
