McCarthy to the Steelers. How will he do?

He and Rodgers will rekindle that GB magic and bring home a Lombardi.

Rodgers has been pretty mediocre his last few full seasons. He hasnt had a season with higher than 7 yard an attempt since 2021. He is pretty much just a name now.

McCarthy is in a tough spot because you cant win with Rodgers anymore, and they dont really have the means to find a good replacement

After a torn achilles, at the age of 41-42, Rodgers threw for 7,414 yards with 56 touchdowns and only 18 interceptions. An amazing feat that isn't appreciated enough.

Rodgers arm isnt there anymore, but he still has his football brain and pocket awareness intact.

MM in a stable, well run organisation with a supportive ownership is a good combination. Browns still the Browns, Ravens and Bengals in decline. Expect him to win the division next season.

This !!

MM does have the lattitude to draft a round 1 QB. Rodgers wont be threatened by this - even he knows he's at most a season or two from retirement.

Would not surprise me if he does much better than when he was here.
He made the divisional round here. Doing much better is AFC championship and Super Bowl. Unless they improve that roster by a lot, that isn't happening. Rodgers is washed and they have very little playmakers. He's also very old now by QB standards.

Mike and Rodgers are one in the same. Both had success together well over a decade ago and haven't did anything since.

Sure ........ How many decades has this front office gotten past the divisional round ..... hiw many decades has it been since we have had success?

We will see I guess

If he can find a QB, I agree.

If you're going to go with Will Howard, expect to have first-time starter mistakes. A lot of them which would probably lead to a worse season than with Rodgers. Will Steelers fans be happy with a losing season? Kind of caught between a rock and a hard place. If you want Howard to learn he has to play but he's going to learn the hard way and there will be some losses along the way. The Steelers would not have made the playoffs without Rodgers this year. Having a 65.7% completion percentage with 24 tds and only 7 interceptions is quite good, especially for a 42-year old quarterback without a good offensive line and no good number two receiver. Playing Howard and the window on Heyward and Watt ever winning a playoff game is closed, which it may already be. I definitely they'll be better off without Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator.

I don't think the Steelers want to invest in a high priced free-agent QB either.

Aaron Rodgers is not the long term or even short term possibly solution for MM . He steps into a situation replacing a popular coach who always had the winning record years end . But to get this new coaching ERA underway a losing record year one might be on tap if you go QB round one and Carson Beck as a possibility .

You learn on the job year one with the arrow hopefully pointing upward year 2 . That receiving corp as well it’s got rust and broken parts. MM in for an interesting challenge.

No doubt an interesting challenge and no to Beck.

I think is was the most shock hire of the off season. The Steelers hit home runs with Cowher and Tomlin as young HC's. MM is the polar opposite. Maybe they think they can squeeze one more playoff run out of this roster? The Steelers are the oldest team in the league with or without Rodgers.
