The front office had to make a choice, pay Gallup less to be a No. 2 to Lamb's No. 1 or overpay Amari (maybe they could have renegotiated Cooper's deal, but we don't know that). They chose the cheaper option and it blew up in their faces. There may have been other aspects that contributed to the choice, such as the shot decision, but it came down to the Joneses making a choice to go with the less costly option.
