FRISCO, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will throw passes Wednesday for the first time since undergoing surgery on his right thumb, but he is expected to miss his fifth straight game Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

"We are preparing for Cooper [Rush] to start against the Eagles," coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday.

"You've got to trust the medical process," McCarthy said. "This is a 17-game season. That was my immediate response. I know Dak didn't want to hear it, but you got to make sure that he's right for the long haul, too."

The Eagles defense will be by far the biggest challenge that Rush has faced in any game as a starter. Their defensive line will get after our OL, and I feel pretty sure their game plan will focus on the run, putting us in long second and third down situations, daring Rush to beat them with his arm.

It’s hard to call Rush the hot hand when he has barely threw for over 100 yards last week. Eagles allow the 5th fewest yards passing and 10th rushing. We’ll see what happens.
...the hot hand meaning:

In the whole Microcosm of things.
Not broken down to particles.

This is my feeling too. Dak was never going to walk into practice on a Wednesday and start on Sunday. He needs to start ramping up this week just for the chance to play next week.

Dak is ready to play McCarthy just doesn’t want to start him so he can look good and win coach of the year award so Jerry can’t replace him with Quinn.

I'm hoping we'll win but I don't think our offense will be able to keep pace with the Eagles offense with Rush as QB. This will be a true test for our defense. But playing against a defense that also is good....I think it's too much for Rush. I hope I'm wrong but I think we'll lose this one. A HEALTHY Dak gives us a better chance to win.

Dak is fine as wine to come in against a couple of DOG teams like the Lions and Bears.
What's he gonna do against the Vikes and Packers etc remains to be seen.....
