A lot of Texans fans are ragging on the Cowboys and Titans. You say the Cowboys way overpaid for Leonard Davis. I agree. But it's Jerry Jones' money. If he doesn't think he overpaid, who cares? The bottom line on any deal is does the player give the team an upgrade over what they had? The answer on Davis is yes. He can play right tackle or right guard. He's been durable. He just wasn't worth the second pick in the draft.
Many of you are getting a kick out of the Titans losing their best runner and receiver and the possibility that they'll lose their best defensive player.
The Titans could have re-signed running back Travis Henry and receiver Drew Bennett, but they've put a value on their players, and they won't overpay unless the player is a sure thing. Henry, who is one strike from being suspended for a year, got $12 million in guaranteed money from Denver. Bennett, 28, is a possession receiver who got $10 million guaranteed from St. Louis. That's great news for them.
I believe that the losses of Henry and Bennett will give the Titans ammunition to keep cornerback Pacman Jones. There's a lot of public pressure in Nashville to get rid of Jones because he's been involved in 10 incidents since he was a first-round pick. I think the NFL will end up suspending him for a couple of games, maybe four, for being dumb enough to be, as he and his lawyers seem to contend, in the wrong place at the wrong time. Think 10 times is a pattern?
