McClay likes new coaching staffs "different energy"

I like what he's saying. I'm not sure he's the right coach, or that Jerry will give him the power to do his job right, but I'll give him a chance. I'll get excited about it IF the Cowboys make some serious free agent or trade moves to improve the team.

It would indicate something is finally different. Until then, I'm under the assumption its the same old garbage just repackaged.

I've reached a toss up status in comparing the sleepover guy who lived in a barn for a year and watched every single Cowboys play...

to failing upward as a 2 decades plus average to below average coordinator who hasn't called plays in 2 years and admits publicly he's not the best Xs and Os guy.

Is the ghost of McFraud really gonna win my decision between these 2 after those playoff catastrophes he just left me with?

Well, I guess as with everything else related to this organization, the coaching bar standard has been officially lowered.

It may even be approaching its downward peak if post season failure continues.
If they even make the playoffs.

This is why I say Shotty has a chance to be a darn good head coach.

"He's very humble, but very hungry…" McClay said. "He's going to be confrontational with the communication but respectful with that, and test your conviction, and he's very, very clear with what he wants and what he wants to do, and getting everybody on the same page."

What do you say for when Jerry picks coordinators, before hiring the HC, McClay?

I agree somewhat ........Eberflus was Jerry's pick but Shotty was allowed to choose his offensive staff. Eberflus chose defensive staff with Shotty's input. This is why Eberflus assured Shotty he would gladly offer his HC experience if needed.
But it appears, at least for now, they are going to give Shotty what he needs and stay out of his way. Other than Shotty, Eberflus and Wells, all coaches are new faces. When was the last time we said that about one of Jerry's team?

As some have mentioned.....Shotty could have easily filled his staff with friends and former coaches he has worked with but he didn't. I respect the fact he wasn't afraid to bring fresh/new faces/experiences.

The combination of a first time HC that was not interviewed nor wanted by another team ,coupled with the FO declaring they are cash strapped should set the bar pretty low for Schottenheimer.
