MCDANIELS WON'T INTERVIEW by Michael David Smith

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has declined requests from the Ravens and Falcons that he interview for their head-coaching vacancies.

“I am very grateful for the chance to interview for NFL head coaching positions, but I have decided not to pursue those opportunities at this time," McDaniels said. "I plan to focus all my attention on our postseason preparation.”

Hmm this guy is about the same age as JG and seems to have his head on straight. Good for him for not taking away anything from his team and possibly being a distraction by being out there doing interviews.

Wasted thread... He's way younger than Jason Garrett.

Rumors are that he makes a great cup of joe and folds Bradys shirts like no other woman.

He will be the OC for long time to come in NE.

:laugh2: Oh yeah funny I heard that over the new wire as well...

I'm sure Bellichick had something to do with this press release. It means nothing regarding whether he will interview for a HC spot after the season. He said "at this time."

That makes it all the more impressive!

Please, a monkey would have success calling plays when you have Brady, Moss, Welker, Faulk, Maroney, Stallworth, Gaffney, Kelly Washington, etc.

BB was on a radio show yesterday saying that McDaniels would make a great HC.

That's not really my point! My point was that as young as he is he is not letting anything, even potential HC position, come between him and his job with the Pats during the playoff run!

And what makes you think that doing a couple of interviews has "come between him and [Garrett's] job"??

Can't I just commend a guy for the way handles his business without everyone getting up in arms about it and viewing as I'm bashing Garrett, which I'm not, I didn't even mention Garrett did I??

Oh, Ok. Well I definitely agree on that. Sorry for misunderstanding you on that one.

The OP mentioned Garrett. After that everything in this thread was comparing McDaniels to Garrett.

I think people just wish Garrett and to a lesser extent, Sporano, would have taken a similar approach in making the Commanders/Bucs/Giants their entire focus during this week, instead of scheduling interviews with bad teams. Might not be realistic, but that's how I feel. Heck, if they wanted to go to Mexico with Romo, that's cool too. I'd just rather them not potentially be making plans to leave the Cowboys the week before the biggest game of the season.

Hey I just liked, rather I'm impressed with how this guy handled his business. I'm not outright trashing Jason. There was a poster a week or so ago that said something to the effect that no one would pass up the chance to get a NFL job. Well this guy is and because he wants his team to be better for it. It is rather refreshing to see.

Yeah I agree with that to an extent. But if there were one coach who I'd trust to be able to focus on the task at hand while interviewing for jobs, it wold be Garrett.

He's not discounting seeking an HC job in the offseason. He said he won't interview at this time.

If you would have gotten the entire release, I'm pretty sure McDaniels was declining interviews during the postseason. After the season's over, I'm sure you'll see him interviewing for head coaching jobs.

So you call me out for what I didn't say and you don't call out anybody else who did compare the two, at that point:confused: .

Look Garrett has the right to interview as well as others and that's fine that's the norm, happens everywhere. I just think it's extraordinary and not the norm what Daniels is doing or not doing that's all, and it wasn't a shot at Garrett.
