its a nice consilation price, i would rather have him that rasheed, if he could stay healthy all year, but since thats always a big if Id rather have rasheed, but he will be a great role player if he stays healthy

Coveted free agent Antonio McDyess(notes) has decided to sign with the San Antonio Spurs, two sources told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday afternoon.

McDyess, 34, will sign a three-year deal that guarantees him $15 million.

McDyess’ decision had come down to the Spurs, Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers.


McDyess, a 6-10 forward, averaged 9.6 points and 9.8 rebounds for the Pistons last season.

The Spurs have a successful summer and thrust themselves back into championship contention. General manager R.C. Buford has retooled the team with Richard Jefferson, McDyess and a potential second-round steal in Pittsburgh forward DeJuan Blair.

Fuzzy math by Yahoo....i think you'll see something closer to 11 mil guaranteed. Great pick up for the Spurs...much needed depth down low.

ya i think only the first 2 years are fully guaranteed, the third is only about 1 million guaranteed from what i read b4. that means that the spurs could use him as a trade piece after the 2011 season since teams can buy him out at a much lower price that his contract will call for. its basically a 2 year deal with that becomes a great expiring contract for trade purposes

this has been a tip top offseason for the spurs. if we stay healthy, we will battle for trophy number 5, without a doubt.

and with the cap coming down next year, this offseason looks that much smarter, too.

I hope Antonio Anderson makes your team also. He was one of my all time favorite Memphis Tiger players. I don't know if he'll have much of an offensive game in the NBA but he's a great defender. I was hoping the Grizzlies would sign him.

id rather have McDyess over wallace if he can stay healthy, and thats a BIG if and hence why i would have rather the spurs been able to land wallace.

as for artest, ya he is a better player than them right now but its not what the spurs needed
