The last 9 games he's basically been the starting tailback on this team.

In that time frame he has ran for 769 yards on 171 carries. An average of 4.497 yards per carry. If this was prorated over 16 games, he would be on pace for 1,367 rushing yards for the season.

But, this is with 6 quarters of Romo and the rest with Matt Cassel at QB. A Dez Bryant that hasn't looked the same (and it didn't matter, Cassel couldn't get the ball there anyway).

I don't think the short yardage situation is all his fault (Turbin can't get short yardage either). But, a healthy McFadden really means that RB should be well down the list of priorities next season. Jerry was right...McFadden can run behind this O-Line. Not every RB can run behind this O-Line, but McFadden can. And at a fraction of the price of what it would have cost to have re-signed Murray.

He's good enough for now, but we need to draft someone younger and faster. He'll be 29 when next season starts and he's definitely lost a gear.

Can't stay healthy, how can one trust that for a full season? Round 3 we need to look at RB if one falls...

That was the knock on Murray too.
They both stayed healthy all of last season, as well as all of this season so far.

Jerry already said Lance Dunbar will be back next year so that's two spots already locked up with only 1 left. I think you have to get a young Hammer like Henry on this team some how and let he and McFadden fight for the job in camp and Preseason.

I don't want McFadden locking up a starting job before the draft even gets here.

I like him, but also think it would be silly to rely exclusively on him as our starter next year.

I will say he definitely looks much faster, and more explosive than Murray right now.

Should be back, but it would be nice to sign Lamar Miller or draft a back high too

I think with Dunbar you have to keep 4 RB's, unless the RB they bring in this off season can be an every down back like McFadden. If they bring in some one dimensional RB, you are now over reliant on the health of McFadden keeping you from trotting someone out there who is only effective in certain situations.

I been a DMC supporter since day one. But I still prefer Elliot or Henry in the draft if BPA at the time.
Keep McFadden though for sure. Along with Turbin.
That's how i feel, draft a starting RB and keep Mac/Turbin and we'll have a real nice 3 headed monster. As much as i respect Michael Irvin as a player i can't help but laugh when he goes on theses rants about Murray, DMC is having a better year than Murray by far and the Eagles offense is more dangerous with him on the bench.

The biggest reason we didn't want Murray was that he was run down and wouldn't reproduce the 1850 yds from last year.

But now we are celebrating that McFadden has 890 yds with only 2 games left.

Let's keep lowering those bars.

Agree with the post but not the conclusion. I've been a DMC guy since the start of the season like others here, but we do need to add a RB. I could see a Lamar Miller type being signed, but I think the more likely scenario is DMC starts next year and a 2nd or 3rd round pick is worked into the rotation with him.

Also if we had spent the money on DeMarco, our games would still have looked exactly like they did with DMC since Romo went out. The only difference would be the money and less depth on the team from the cap hit we took signing DeMarco.

Macfadden, dunbar, and turbin should all return.

We should also draft a running back or sign a young running back ( if hes had decent experience and success in zone run schemes).

Have you seen Murray this season? McFadden also didn't start until game 4-5. So what are you getting at?
