McFadden to Jets more unlikely

Jets signed RB Jesse Chatman to a one-year contract.

Chatman, 28, revived his career in Miami last year, gaining 515 yards on 128 carries in six starts, with 27 catches. For depth, we'd pencil him in right behind Thomas Jones, though Chatman and Leon Washington would likely split duties if Jones goes down. The move makes the Jets a bit less likely to draft Darren McFadden. Chatman (5'8/222) can be a bruiser, but scored only one TD in 2007 and shouldn't be a major short-yardage threat.

\Signing Jesse Chatman to a one-year contract prevents a franchise from drafting DMac? OK.......

It's unlikely because he'll likely be gone by their pick, not because they wouldn't draft him as a result of signing Jesse Chatman.

I agree Theo...as much as I hate it, if I had to bet I'd say there's almost no way the Raiders pass on him...Davis is probably wetting his Depends remembering how good Marcus Allen and then Bo Jackson were in Silver and Black, I dont think he'll pass on DMac

You guys need stop being on Drugs is not going one Jerry know he can't move two he want's more high picks by trading down, and three Mcfadden running stile doesn't fit ours Ray Rice. If Jerry can find similar RB to Emmitt Smith who run same style. Then Jerry would want that hell of lot more then DEmac.

um....yeah... so if i understood what you just said correctly i'll give it a go.

#1 ray rice is no Emmitt Smith nor will he ever be.
#2 more high picks? 13-3 teams who are a few players away don't trade for more picks.
#3 with barber here as you are assuming mcfadden fits our style a lot more than rice. rice is a slower, weaker and not as tough version of barber.
#4 you're telling "us" we need to "stop being on drugs" but than you write something so wrong it would make an english teacher go insane.

The Jets won't take him they have 3 RBs: Jones, Washington, Chatman.

We are up to pick #7 assuming Al Davis doesn't do anything stupid.

That's much better.

1. Jones will be very careful about moving up in the draft to secure any player which would cost picks and/or established players. That doesn't mean that he won't, however.

2. The likelihood that Jones will land more 'high picks' by trading down is not very good.

3. Did you honestly compare Darren McFadden to Ray Rice?

4. If Jones is targeting a running back, he's not going for a stereotype rusher. He's going to target the best back he can land. There was only one Emmitt Smith. Stop looking for copies of him who do not exist.

ASSUMING the Jets pass on McFadden, I see him slipping through these teams as well:

7. Patriots- they need secondary help and already have a high-powered offense

8. Ravens- just traded for McGahee and I think they still have Musa Smith?

9. Bengals- they're set at RB and need defense badly

10. Saints- just spent the #2 overall pick on Reggie Bust

11. Bills- drafted Marshawn Lynch last year

12. Broncos- the character issues w/ Travis Henry make me believe that they'll pass on DMac, plus DEN could plug me at RB and I'de run for over 1,000 yards (ok, not really)

DMac won't get past Carolina at #13. CAR has made it known that they are targeting a RB early in the draft. So we'll need to trade up to the #12 spot to get McFadden. Does anyone know the points we would have to give up to get to the #12 spot? Maybe our early 1st, a 3rd and a 5th?

No way DMac falls to #13, Jerry would be all over that so fast:D

Oh absolutely! If we only had to give up a 1st (#22), a 3rd and a 5th, we could still use #28 on a CB and grab a WR in the 2nd

Bengals haven't been too pleased with Rudi Johnson

Ravens need some explosion on offense in a BAD way.

Don't count either of those two teams out of the Dmac sweepstakes

the jets sign a nobody and they are less likely to take a player who would be one of the best players on their team.

Wishful thinking. Making you believe what you know isn't true since the dawn of time.

It's not just Chatman. They also have Thomas Jones and Leon Washington. The probability of them taking DMc has gone down.

I agree that the only reason he won't be a Jet is cause he'll likely already be gone before they pick. He's not going to get past Oakland.

I think this post right here is going to cause me to shut it down until the draft. Will check back in on the Zone in a few weeks.
