McGee in on short yardage?

I'm sure I'm going to catch some hell on this but at least hear me out.

Right now in short yardage Dallas has been unable to run something as simple as a QB sneak to get 1 yard. Of course some of that right now is due to Romo ribs but given the fact you can put the 3rd QB in and still be able to keep the starting QB in the game would you think of bringing in a bigger player with passing ability in McGee in some of these short yardage situation.

Part of my reasoning is also due to McGee having better ability to run as well as being able to pull up and throw.

Go ahead and let the attacks begin. :laugh2:

This is like calling for the benching of Romo.

Not at all, other teams have done the same things.

I know, but this is how it usually starts.

I disagree. Right now with Romo ribs the QB sneak is out of the question. In certain situation I would at least like that option. While many fans did not like choice running the wild cat this would be not much different than that expect you would have a guy who could give you the option of dropping back and making the throw.

Gimme Tebow

Orton to Tebow. Now all of their receivers want off of that team. Heard Eddie Royal is about to request a trade after seeing Brandon Lloyd go to the Rams. :laugh2:

Eh. I'm really not a fan when any team does this. I just don't get the idea of moving your starting QB out of that spot and bringing a guy in for a special play or something like that. I'm just not a fan of this type of stuff.

He looked good on that long run to me, but I'm not sure i would want to QB sneak behind this line right now.

Hate to be Captain Obvious here, but if you can't run the ball in short yardage situations the QB is not your problem and replacing him will not help.

yesterday, one of the worst defenses in the league effectively stopped the Cowboys running game and they did it with 6 and 7 players "in the box" all game long. If that's not an indictment of your OL then nothing is.

Having an wide opening and taking off is a lot different. I would rather try something than to sit there crying we can't do anything on short yardage. To me that is not a solution saying we can't. McGee is a part of the team and if he or any other player can help then I'm all for it but I will never be for not trying

I disagree the QB sneak gives you a chance to drive quickly into the line as opposed to having a RB 5 to 7 yards deep getting the ball. This was the same reason NE used Brady on a couple of QB sneaks given the fact Dallas was able to penetrate into the back field on some short yardage runs.

No, they used Brady in those QB sneaks because they saw gaps in Ryan's defense. It was an audible and the guy gained freakin 3-5 yards. Kosier/Costa/Nagy are getting pushed back at the snap, they are not moving forward.

Was not thinking of Tebow as I was Buffalo Brad Smith. Every one know Smith is not going to be the starting QB but Gailey brings him in on certain situation. The guy is on the roster and helps Buffalo.

They used it because in some of the short yardage runs Dallas was nailing the RB 2 and 3 yards behind the line. Sorry but it is much easier running the QB sneak than handing off 5 to 7 yards deep allowing the defense the chance to penetrate that is why teams will run the QB sneak

Funny, the Patriots managed to use Brady in those situations even though they've got a guy who's 6'7 253 yet you're wanting us to use McGee for sneaks because he's a decent athlete? He's practically the same size as Romo, he's a bit faster, MAYBE a little stronger.

Brady does not have damaged ribs. Right now I would not even think about having Romo do this.

I will say as I thought people will shoot down unorthodox ideas and just cry about we can't do anything in short yardage. So please give me a idea

we all know why they run the sneak!!!! But running it behind a weak-*** OL going backwards means Romo, or McGee, or TeBow gets stonewalled at the LOS as opposed to having the RB tackled behind the LOS. Either way you don't get the TD or first down.

Trade Choice for some mauling guards. We all know it will never happen. :laugh2:
