I actually see a lot of potential in McGee. Call me silly.... It's been done before. But the guy has a big canon. A confident ego. And he's very mobile.

McGee, as some say, is a run-of-the-mill quarterback. McGee may not be seasoned, but that's not how you judge a quarterback.

With that said, I know the hype surrounding Orton. But his record with the Broncos was pretty shoddy. Here's to hoping it was them and not him, but I do think McGee is legit.

Thoughts?

Orton Next question btw how are you doing ? nice to see u agian.

Orton all day every day. McGee is what he is a career 3rd stringer. I am still shocked that Orton is not starting at QB for another team right now.

McGeek's game was restricted was restricted because, well, A&M coaches scheme like Aggies. So he really wasn't as successful as he could have been, due to the fact he was an option quarterback for 3 years.

IMO, the jury is still out on him. He looks like what I think a lot of people wanted when they envisioned what Henson could be.

Orton for sure. But I have seen some overrate him at times. In any case, we are very lucky to have him backing up Tony.

I agree with you.

I think McGee showed you what the Cowboy OLine really is, which is poor. Romo has been making it look better than it is for years.

This isn't a legit question is it? McGee is the checkdown king for a reason...

I think I've seen enough of McGee to say that I'm not all that impressed with him. The best thing about him is his mobility, which is excellent, but other than that...meh.

How can you honestly say that? We haven't seen much of him at all. If anything it shows how awful our offensive line is and just how much better Tony Romo makes them look. You can't really judge McGee until you give him a conpatent offensive line.

Because I can?

Look, I don't need to see him play in a lot of games to know what I like and what I don't, and what I see in him I don't particularly like. It's just an opinion, anyway.

The problem with McGee is the game appears to be too fast for him. He has been in the same scheme for 3 years now and he really couldn't function within it against the Eagles.

The one good thing I"ll say about the kid is he has a knack for leading scoring drives late in games. I think he's done it 3 times in the last minute in his career which consists of 3 games.

I think it's a moot point by the time this season starts.

I agree with you, Orton is a pretty good back-up right now but Mcgee actually played well in 2010 when Romo and Kitna were out for the last game that really didn't matter. Nonetheless, I think he's shown more than what people think he has to warrant a roster spot. I mean he's been the third quarterback, it's pretty tough to judge him on pretty limited action. And when he has come in, he is at least the caliber of a second stringer.

I don't want excuses from a 3rd line QB, I want to see him execute plays. McGee doesn't. Sorry, but I hope McGee has some serious competition this year at 3rd QB, and get rid of him if can't play at the NFL level. At least with Orton I know he can do that.

Except that when he was up for that promotion to second string, the team went another direction entirely.

I'll be surprised if McGee makes the roster. Not sure why we'd invest another year developing a free agent for somebody else. We need that spot to prepare a competitor for whatever ringer we bring in next offseason to develop long term.

For some reason I think they got Orton because he was simply available and this team likes veteran back up quarterbacks.

I think it had more to do with Orton being available and less about what they think about McGee. If Orton hadn't been available, I'm almost certain we'd be going into this season with McGee as our backup.

Remember, we were still in contention for the playoffs last year with an injured Romo, and we hung with McGee as our primary backup without going out and getting a veteran to replace Kitna. The only one we made a play for was Orton.

It seems to me that this team likes Orton over McGee, but they don't really like anyone else over McGee.
