I concur, WHY??? seen enough of him and in three years, he has not progressed, time to move on from him

Honestly its embarassing and a waste of a precious roster spot. Him making the team (so far) is the biggest RUE in my opinion. Moreso than any of the cuts.

Jerruh didn't want to make the fans rue again, Matt Moore style.

#cowboys source: McGee on 53 'for now, but stay tuned.' (team not done wheeling-dealing)

Color me skeptical.

I had several discussions on McGee the past week and this is probably why they kept him.

I'm torn on this one because I think so little of McGee and Carpenter but the more thought I've given it I would probably go with 3 because of the issues on the OL. Keeping 3 would result in having to cut a pretty good player who might have a future but with Romo having injuries the past 2 seasons and the team having to use their 3rd QB in 2010 and 2011 it would be too risky to go with just 2.

It's going to come down to whether the Cowboys have a player who can play the position in the event the worst possible scenario happens. I think the concerns with the OL and the fact they've had to use their 3rd QB the past 2 seasons will cause them to keep 3 QB's.

The Cowboys invested a 4th round pick in McGee so that gives him an edge over Carpenter. They ended up cutting Carpenter last summer and he hasn't looked any better this summer.

He's only completed 6 passes in preseason compared to 18 for McGee. McGee has gotten more opportunities so if the Cowboys keep one which I feel they will it will be McGee.

He's better then a lot of back up qbs. My guess is they are fielding phone calls now because someone no doubt was hoping he would be put on waivers.

Hope they can get Dunbar back. He reminds me of the early Felix Jones before he bulked up/slowed down and lost his burst.

It is yet again further evidence of the inability of Jerry to manage a roster. He gets too close to players and can't let them go.

You need a hard, cold football guy who is not too attached to the players so he can let them go. Not many coaches have this ability and that's why most with dual responsibility have failed. Here we have an even worse situation as the owner directly makes these moves and he has major problems with separation anxiety from his players. Jerry should worry a lot less about being the players' friends - it doesn't endear any loyalty from them. They all go away to the highest bidder when they are FAs, they all talk smack when they go to another opponent and they belittle you and your precious team.

I had hoped Garrett had talked some sense into him but either he can't or he is too attached to a scrub like McGee too. Either way is just further proof that we need someone in here with authority between the coach and the GM who is willing to make the tough decisions - who to re-sign early, who to extend, who to let test the waters and who to release.

I know Garrett has tried to run practices differently and I believe he will get what he can out of this roster but I also believe that devoid of Romo this is the weakest team in this division by a wide margin. We don't have the talent to play against Philly - they will whip us twice again. We may compete against the Giants because of how bad their secondary appears to be but I fully expect us to get swept again. We stand a chance against Washington but only because they are starting a rookie QB.
