What happened to his arm strength? He used to have a decent arm, now he just throws floaters.

he never had that much

It was considered a plus coming out of college for him. He always had zip, but now they just float.

as much as I bash on the guy, and I do quite a bit, he had some nice throws last night, and on them the velocity was impressive.

My biggest issue with McGee is that he doesn't tend to look downfield while scrambling all the time. A few times he was forced out of the pocket and had open receivers downfield, but just kept on running. One of them, if he throws it, would have been far enough to convert a first down, but instead he scrambled and came up short of the marker. We had to punt.

I say cut him, and let him go elsewhere to try and find a place in the league.

We should cut Carpenter too, but sign him to the PS if he is able to clear waivers.

velocity was never his strong point..

touch passer..

i looked at this video tonight on youtube and he really floats the ball like leinart and pennington.

but alas...shipley is one bad **.

check it out..3:27 is too sweet.

The only velocity about McGee that interests me is how fast he can get out of Dallas.

1) Hangs on to the ball too long

2) Does not have a quick realease

McGee processes the field too slowly to be an NFL QB. He has played here four years in the same system and under the same OC. If he hasn't gotten it down by now he never will. He'll be out of the league once we release him.

There is zero reason to keep him as insurance because no one will sign him. We can bring him in off the street if we want in case Romo and Orton get injured. If both of those guys go down we don't stand a chance anyways so we might as well lose and get a higher pick in the draft - McGee will do a good job of insuring we get those picks.

Most in the thread remember wrongly. He had a very strong arm coming out of college and even while playing at A&M. Also, the main knock on him was that he was raw from playing in an option system.

My problem with him is two things 1) He hasn't deveolped. 2) He's very slow to make his reads and throw.

Yes and yes. Unfortunately, he's just not cut out for the NFL.

McGee never looks for the big play. That is his problem.

It's not that he doesn't look for it. It's that he doesn't see it.

If it were the former, it could be fixed. The latter? A lot tougher fix.

McCoy Cowboy you are exactly right. McGee actually has a cannon of an arm - easily stronger than Romo's - but he can't use it because of his processing speed. And totally agree 1) He hasn't deveolped. 2) He's very slow to make his reads and throw. He has David Carr written all over him - he has NO pocket presence at all and hear footsteps when there are none.
