McGinn: Anonymous Scouts On Kyle Pitts

You may not want to hear this, but I think the Eagles are taking him at #6.

I don’t care if they make 5 picks or 10 picks, if they get 5 starters out of this draft, that would be a great haul. It’s also entirely possible.

We have 6 picks in the first four rounds. They should be knocking on the starter’s door from the moment they are picked.

It doesn’t matter if it’s OL, DT, LB, S, CB, they could easily start this year.
Replace “could easily” with “need to” and you’re spot on.

Witten is one of my favorite players of all time but I don't see him as the game changer. He was a security blanket and he got the job done and is a first ballot Hall of Famer due to continued excellence. Did he make some big plays? Absolutely, but that isn't what he will be known for.

Being uncoverable while also being a dominant blocker is a game changer in my opinion. Your game changer definition sounds closer to my definition of "exciting" or "flashy." Witten made defensive coordinators alter their game plans and/or plan specifically for him. To me, that's the literal definition of a game changer.

He won us so many Super Bowls. I see your point.

Dan Marino
LaDainian Tomlinson
Gale Sayers
OJ Simpson
Terrell Owens
Tim Brown
Chris Carter
Antonio Gates
Ozzie Newsome
Kellen Winslow Sr.
... To name just a few

None of these players won Super Bowls. So, is it your argument they weren't game changers? I have no problem with you defining the term how you want. I was just giving my two cents. But this Super Bowl argument is a just a foolish attempt to move the goalposts.

Looking at the draft order, the only team I could see strongly taking him before us is Carolina.

And I’m not saying you draft a lesser player for need only. I’m saying I (and many others) think there are a couple of corners and maybe a LB that can be as good at their positions as Pitt is at TE. Do the Cowboys think that? No idea and neither does anyone else but them. There is no “sure thing” as some want to throw out. It doesn’t exist. Every pick is a risk.
Just going off what nearly every scout is saying about Pitts and being that blue chip player.
Havent heard the same amount of reference for others Like Parsons, Surtain, or Farley, and just like you said, every pick is always a risk, but the one that carries the minimal risk and most likely to dominate is Pitts all day at 10.

I just don’t see it. A Te that is more like a wr than a te. So many other needs on this team. Another receiver isn’t one of them.

We’re going to have pretty much every defensive player in the draft available to us at 10. If we don’t like one of them, it’s going to be a bad draft.

If he falls to 10, which I’ll be shocked if he does, we HAVE to take him just like Ceedee last year. Pitts might even be the best player in the entire draft. If that happened, I would let Cooper go iafter next season and resign Gallup. That would make our WR corps go from expensive to cheap but still be among the best in the league.
