McGinn Draft Series - Part 1: WR

It really is an awful class, especially compared to last year
I don’t think it’s an awful class. Just a tough follow up from last year.

I could see if it were a generational talent that is WR1B. But a 12 pick for WR2 doesn’t seem very responsible when there are dire needs to build in both sides of the run game.

I think encouraging Dak to throw the ball 40+ times is a recipe for disaster. Look at his record when he’s spinning the ball that much. If Burrow or Mahomes were the QB here, I wouldn’t hesitate.

A lot of good info, especially character type stuff. Still high on Golden no matter what. Hope the Cowboys aren't trying to force WR in the 1st round, and add to the trenches.
I predict we go WR in the 1st, and we won't go RB until the 3rd at the earliest

I'm leaning more toward trading down some (if we can find a trade partner) if Jeanty, Carter, Graham and Hunter are all gone, which is likely.

I'd feel much more comfortable taking Hampton, Golden, Egkuba, Burden, Barron, Johnson, Nolen, Harmon, Grant, Pearce or Green at 20 than at 12. At 12, our best options may be TE Warren or an OL, and I really don't want to draft either. Trade down and get the extra Day 2 pick so we can take a WR, RB, DT and CB all on the first two days (in whatever order the best available is).

these mcginn articles are a great read every year.

I also how love some people see a player in complete opposite ways.

They mention character concerns with Burden here. Broaddus recently eluded to that saying the more he's hearing on Burden the more he understands the 2nd round projection.

Problematic mother, girlfriend is his manager, the worst practice player you'll ever see?

Yeah I get it too.

And this is why I say that no matter how much time you put in to following the draft you don't have a real informed opinion unless you have access to the interviews and medicals at the combine as well as the background work teams do on players. You're making decisions without all the information.

Like I would have drafted Burden in the first round no problem and then found out the guy doesn't want to practice and the women around him are nuts.

Well, were all surrounded by crazy women.

But not practicing hard is a problem, and Tet apparently has character concerns.

I hope Jeanty falls or we get Warren @TE.

I know we need a WR2, but these guys make me want to wait.

Best scouting reports IMO.

Love the different takes on players. It's not all sunshine and rah rah. can see conflicting reviews on guys.

So use our first two picks on a RB and WR?
I wouldn't pick RB in the first, I may even wait later depending on how the draft unfolds...but defintley no RB in the first round, specially top 12.
WR is a need.

btw, I don't mean those as a reach, but trading down should be a consideration.

Yeah, interesting how one scout loves a prospect, and another will say, "can't see him as a starter."
The draft is.....a crap shoot.
