Vikings tops on McNabb's trade wish list

3/26/2010 6:24:01 AM

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports if Donovan McNabb had his say, and he may very well have it, he would prefer to be traded to Minnesota.

After Andy Reid announced Wednesday that the Eagles were "entertaining offers" for all three of their quarterbacks, McNabb reiterated that he wants to remain in Philadelphia. But if the team were to ship its franchise quarterback elsewhere, the Vikings would be his first choice, according to sources close to the situation.

There are obstacles to this even remotely happening.

For one, the Vikings technically already have a starting quarterback in Brett Favre, and indications are that the 40-year-old is coming back for another season.

And even if Favre were to retire, a decision on his replacement isn't likely to be made until training camp - and the Eagles probably can't wait that long.

So in the meantime, the Eagles will solicit offers from other teams, most of whom McNabb has no desire to play for.

Out of all the teams that he can go to going to Minny scares me the most. He knows that offense, and they would be scary.

My bet is that he goes to San Fran though. That would be a perfect situation for both parties.

McNabb is a loser. A bona-fide loser.

Comes up small when it matters most.

Minnesota could sign him, but they won't win the big one.

Lock it up.

I would agree with most teams, but I think he has enough that with the weapons that Minnesota does have, he might make it look better than what Favre did. I am not saying he would go there and be a GOD or anything, but i am saying he might gel iwth that team better than Favre did.

What is Romo? A winner?

This is an honest question, as I have no idea what the answer is:
What is McNabb's playoff record?
I would have assumed it's pretty good, but don't know for sure.

I found some stats on him, but no playoff win %.

His career is pretty amazing really if you take off your blinders.

NFL records
  • Most consecutive pass completions, 24; vs New York Giants, Nov. 28, 2004; vs Green Bay Packers, Dec. 5, 2004
  • Least-intercepted quarterback per pass attempt of all time, (4588 attempts-96 interceptions, 2.09%)
  • Second-best touchdown-to-interception ratio of all time, (209-96, 2.18) behind Tom Brady (217-92, 2.36)
  • First NFL Quarterback ever to throw for more than 30 touchdowns and fewer than 10 interceptions (2004)
  • One of six quarterbacks of all time to have over 25,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards (alongside Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, Fran Tarkenton, Steve McNair, and John Elway)
  • Currently the third-highest winning percentage among active quarterbacks (83-45-1, .647) behind Peyton Manning (119-59-0, .669) and Tom Brady (88-25-0, .779)
Eagles records
  • Most Career Attempts (4,303)
  • Most Pass Completions (2534)
  • Most Passing Yards (29,320)
  • Most Passing Touchdowns (203)
  • Most Single-Season Completions (345, 2008 season)
  • Most Single-Season Yards (3,916, 2008 season)
  • Most NFC Championship Appearances (5)
Just by default, I'm sure his playoff record is outstanding. It's not possible to get to that many NFC title games and not win many playoff games.
I would say calling him a "loser" is quite silly.

What is so wrong with saying Romo is a winner? And even McNabb for that matter?

Who said anything about Romo? I'm not comparing Romo to McNabb.

I would have assumed it's pretty good, but don't know for sure.

I think he has a winning record in the post season.

But he also is the only QB to have lost 4 NFC Championships. His team was favored in all those losses.

He threw game-sealing interceptions against the Rams, when the game was on the line.

He threw a game-sealing pick-six late in the fourth with the game on the line against the Bucs in the title game.

He threw three horrible interceptions against the Panthers title game.

And when he did finally get his team to the Super Bowl, he threw three interceptions (2 in the redzone), as well as coughed, chocked, and threw up on the field when down in the fourth and driving for points.

He can put up all the stats in the regular season. When it matters most, he comes up small.

Time, and time, and time again.

To each their own.

But there are quarterbacks who have "it."

Quarterbacks that have ice running through their veins. You know when your team is down, they are never out so long as that QB takes the snaps.

Brady comes to mind. Montana. Roethlisberger (I hate saying that). Staubach.

Those guys were winners.

Put a little adversity on McNabb, and he crumbles.

And that is why I consider him a loser.

That's your right.

My point was that a QB has to overcome a ton of adversity just to make it to multiple NFC title games. I'm one who thinks players deserve credit for what they do on all of the big stages, not just the Super Bowl.

If one playoff win can make you a winner, what does 2,384 posts make you? Anyone?
