1. Tampa Bay - Jameis Winston QB Florida St.
2. Tennessee - Marcus Mariota QB Oregon
3. Jacksonville - Dante Fowler DE Florida
4. Oakland - Amari Cooper WR Alabama
5. Washington - Shane Ray DE Missouri
6. N.Y. Jets - Todd Gurley RB Georgia
7. Chicago - Leonard Williams DE USC
8. Atlanta - Randy Gregory OLB Nebraska
9. N.Y. Giants - Brandon Scherff T Iowa
10. St. Louis - Kevin White WR West Virginia
11. Minnesota - Trae Waynes CB Michigan St.
12. Cleveland - DeVante Parker WR Louisville
13. New Orleans - Vic Beasley OLB Clemson
14. Miami - Breshad Perriman WR UCF
15. San Francisco - Arik Armstead DE Oregon
16. Houston - Nelson Agholor WR USC
17. San Diego - Danny Shelton DT Washington
18. Kansas City - Cameron Erving C Florida St.
19. Cleveland (Buffalo) - Malcom Brown DT Texas
20. Philadelphia - Landon Collins S Alabama
21. Cincinnati - Andrus Peat T Stanford
22. Pittsburgh - Bud Dupree OLB Kentucky
23.Detroit - La'el Collins T LSU
24. Arizona - Kevin Johnson CB Wake Forest
25. Carolina - Ereck Flowers T Miami
26. Baltimore - Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin

27. Dallas - Byron Jones CB Connecticut
Analysis: Gordon is an option for the Cowboys if he drops this far, but they can also look to add a running back later in the draft. Cornerback is their second-biggest need, and Marcus Peters is a possibility here, but I'll have them take Jones. His recognition skills in coverage can improve, but he's an exceptional athlete with good size and great intangibles who could really help upgrade the corner position for Dallas.

28. Denver - D.J. Humphries T Florida
29. Indianapolis - Eli Harold OLB Virginia
30. Green Bay - Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA
31. New Orleans (Seattle) - Phillip Dorsett WR Miami
32. New England - Marcus Peters CB Washington

I prefer Dallas trade up and select Erick Flowers or Malcom Brown.

Or I prefer them to stay at the 27th pick and select Eric Kendricks.

I really have a problem with selecting a CB. The past first round picks (Claiborne and Jenkins) have hurt this team.

With the Hardy Suspension, I'd be taking another look at Eli Harold if he can play the SAM-OTTO spot. Harold-McClain-Lee could be sweet if Harold is that guy. I have no idea if we really intend to play that position but if we do he may be the guy.

think theyd go with McKinney at that spot over harold.

Yes he would be the other one. I actually like him alot. He's more of a LB first then a stand up end. I have no problem selecting Mckinney.

The Cowboys knew Hardy was going to be suspended and still had a lot of corners come through VR.

I don't think their draft changes at all.

I think the order of preference changes some.

CB, RB and DE are still high on their list but I think RB priority will now take a back seat to defensive help. Before the suspension, I though they could go RB in the 2nd round but now I think they will have to wait until the 3rd; CB, LB, DE, and DT would make the most sense based on availability of prospects compared to needs.

Respectfully disagree Zimmy. :)

Why?

#1 Cowboys knew the suspension was coming.

#2 The length of the suspension still isn't 100% certain. From everything I've heard and read a suspension for as little as 2 games is still possible.

#3 Reaching for talent is never a solution, i.e. Kavika Pittman.

No matter what, the Cowboys have to stick to their "Value board" and I'm certain they will.

I do not think they are going to do the "Otto" thing any more than they did the "Star" thing with Scandrick.

You can't not take a CB that you think can play simply because you whiffed on two previous ones. If 27 comes and Peters or Jones or Johnson are the best available players at that spot, you take one.

Exactly.

OL wiffs didn't stop them from drafting more.

At some point if the defense is going to become a top-5 defense it needs better corners.

I guess McShay didnt get the memo on Shane Ray needing foot surgery, I dont see anyway Williams falls to #7, I doubt Gregory goes top ten, Nelson Agholor is now a top 16 pick? A little high for Cameron Erving at 18, that would suck to lose Gordon one pick before ours, although i dont think the Ravens would use a 1st rounder on a RB. and lastly i dont see Peters lasting to #32.

It is not that simple.

Of the top five defenses last year, only Seattle made its defensive living because of the secondary play. Denver, Detroit, Buffalo and San Francisco, not nearly as much.

I just dont think any of the top CBs are going to be there. All of them are rising.

Waynes, Peters, Johnson, Jones i think will all be gone.

Darby and Rowe would be reaches at 27.

Denver and buffalo have great cb's, ya they have great pass rushers too of course. If all four are gone as you suggested then we look elsewhere rd 1 but we do play Brady and Rodgers next year. We need a good young cb.

Exactly, you don't throw months of work out of the window because suddenly someone is gone for a few games. And no I don't expect Hardy to miss over 6 games, and probably not over 2 when its all said and done.

But it still comes down to taking the most talented defender on the board that fits this scheme.

If it's a DE... terrific!

If it's a LB... great!

If it's a corner... that'll work too!

Latin, you maybe right. We'll see here in another week. ;)

That is a lot more reasonable than suggesting "better corners" are the key to a top five defense.

How the defense is constructed and plays off the strengths/weaknesses of the front four versus back seven has a lot more to do with it.

Nope. You don't toss all that away. Not after one week before the draft.
