McShay says Fairly had an amazing Pro day

Interesting on the NFLN last night that all the guys -- Charles Davis, Mayock, and Casserly -- said he had a great workout but they still had Dareus ahead of him.

This guy has big time character questions. Even Mayock said he was either All-Pro or out of the league soon. I wouldn't be surprised if he slips some because the bust factor is huge.

I was a Dareus fan going into this season, but the fact is not only did he not have the breakout season everyone was expecting he was rather pedestrian at best. Fairly made more plays in the backfield in one game than Dareus made all year, but yet somehow people question Fairley's motor? If Dareus was playing hard every snap, why is his production so paltry? People keep harping on this "one year wonder" stuff as if it means anything, the guy only played 2 years of Div I college and one of those years he was by far the most dominant defensive lineman in the country. I consider that a pretty good batting average.

I think Fairley's motor gets questioned because his conditioning isn't at the level it needs to be for him to play as hard as he does on every snap. Sometimes he just gets tired and plays a bit high (happened during his pro day too) and that leads to plays where he's not as effective. You can't really teach a guy how to have a good motor, not at this point, but you can fix conditioning issues.

Fairley just had one of the amazing prodays for a interior def lineman he's ever seen. Fairely is the best player in this draft IMO. All you have to do is watch a game and and you dont need to question it.

LOl but the most amazing proday ever? Sounded like he had a....over Fairley. I cant say it cause i might get a infraction. lol

Fairley blew up this year...but is he "one of those guys"? And what I mean by that is...is he the kind of guy who shows up when larger sum of cash is on the line. Some refer to these players as contract players. I like Fairley and he looks like beast on film...but he wasnt the same guy last year or year before. I am willing to best him being little lighter 290 lb made him quicker for pro day but some feel he is better to add the weight and be beast in middle. Personally, I think he should go outside as DE in 3-4.

:laugh2: :laugh2: If Fairly was that great, why wasn't he dominating the SEC while he was playing at JUCO?

He looked like Tyson Jackson/Marcus Spears Pt. 2 this season ... a 2 down run plugger who will provide absolutely no pass rush ability and will have to be replaced on nickel sets.

People keep harping on this "one year wonder" stuff on Fairly as if it means anything. You do know he suffered a high ankle sprain in the Arkansas game and gutted through the season, don't you? He talked about it in an interview with the NFL Network at the combine.

To get an idea of how he plays when healthy look at his bowl game highlights. He was unblockable.

Fairley will win defensive rookie of the year.

I am pretty confident of that. He is as disruptive as Suh as a collegiate. He isn't as heady so is a bigger risk but a lot of the knocks are actually positives. I want my defensive tackle to like hitting QBs any chance he gets. A borderline hit there and there is fine by me because 15 yards is a small price to pay for a dent in a QBs mental game.

Dareus is a bigger physical freak and he will play quite well at the next level but Fairley is more Ratliff while Dareus is more Spears. Dareus will have to use power because he is too big to slide by anyone on a move. Fairley is insanely quick off the ball and constantly splits double teams with speed and quickness.

They showed highlights of his workout on Sportscenter doing the line drills. It's amazing watching a 300 lbs. man flip his hips, turn and run like that. He stops and cuts on a dime and is back to full speed by 2nd step. He looks like he could cut some weight and play linebacker. Reminded me of watching a young Warren Sapp back when they held the NFL Skills Competition during the Pro Bowl week, and Sapp would run around and pluck balls out of the air like a 310 lbs. wide receiver.

Fairley, IMO, is the best player in this draft. He is the guy I would covet most.

I know. That's what I like about him.

You can count me in this camp.

I think Fairley is the best player in this draft and I would love for Rob Ryan to have him to work with.
