McShay says Fairly had an amazing Pro day

How will he play when he gets the $ in his hands? A lot of folks think he has some Haynesworth in him.

I'm one of those folks.

Fairley will win defensive rookie of the year.

I am pretty confident of that. He is as disruptive as Suh as a collegiate. He isn't as heady so is a bigger risk but a lot of the knocks are actually positives. I want my defensive tackle to like hitting QBs any chance he gets. A borderline hit there and there is fine by me because 15 yards is a small price to pay for a dent in a QBs mental game.

Dareus is a bigger physical freak and he will play quite well at the next level but Fairley is more Ratliff while Dareus is more Spears. Dareus will have to use power because he is too big to slide by anyone on a move. Fairley is insanely quick off the ball and constantly splits double teams with speed and quickness.

They showed highlights of his workout on Sportscenter doing the line drills. It's amazing watching a 300 lbs. man flip his hips, turn and run like that. He stops and cuts on a dime and is back to full speed by 2nd step. He looks like he could cut some weight and play linebacker. Reminded me of watching a young Warren Sapp back when they held the NFL Skills Competition during the Pro Bowl week, and Sapp would run around and pluck balls out of the air like a 310 lbs. wide receiver.

They said the same thing about Newton's workout and he then went out and stunk up the combine drills.

Hard to peg where he goes as he could be anywhere from #1 to #8.

Cam Newton had a workout before the combines?

I think that was sarcasm. Typically, you only hear good things about pro day workouts. Unless of course, you keep slipping because you forgot your cletes.

:laugh2:

Fairley, IMO, is the best player in this draft. He is the guy I would covet most.

Fairley is one of the dirtiest players I've seen at the college level...ever. He'd take late shots at QB's knees. He'd drive them down after the play with the intent to injure. And when the offensive linemen would finally stand up to him, he would run and hide behind his teamates.

He is a POS. Not only do I pray the Cowboys don't draft him but I hope he blows out his knee on the first play of training camp and never sees the field as a pro. The NFL would be better off without him.

And this is just one game. He played like this all year. I don't want this POS anywhere near my team. There's a difference between playing hard and trying to injure.

The injury to Murry was tough to tell I thought. He was blocked and going down I thought. I mean, I can see how/why Georgia was pissed but on that play, it looked to me as if he was blocked and basically landed in such a way as to cause the helmet to impact the knee.

I haven't read through all the posts in the thread, so I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but Fairley also weighed in at 297 lbs at his pro day...FWIW.

You hit to injure or you might as well not hit.

Now breaking rules to injure is another thing altogether but any player should be looking to deliver clean, but devastating blows. This is football not ballet.

He set an SEC record for personal fouls in one season. He breaks rules. He would have been fined and suspended multiple times if he pulled that nonsense in the NFL.

If I only saw that one play by itself, I might agree with you. But that was the 4th time he tried to hurt Murray that game and he had knocked out 3 QB's already that season. He was going for the knee.

I will admit that you have to GET to the QB to lay a hit on him and Georgia didn't do a thing to block him all game. He played well but with him it's more than finishing your hit. He is trying to injure people.

I suggest never going to YouTube to pull up Randy White or Deacon Jones clips. You might catch the vapors, clutch your pearls and feint.

He's a one year wonder and a dirty player. He played like that in every game and even got so out of control in the Georgia game that his assistant coach had to control him and get him off the field. He's got some thug in him. Doesn't mean he won't be a great player, but he has red flags.

Now lots of great players push the envelope on playing dirty like Suh, but Fairley doesn't have the track record of Suh. I would be afraid of drafting him high due to his surrounding circumstances. He has bust potential.

I listen when a guy like Warren Sapp watches film and says Fairley has a lot to learn to play at the pro level and that he thinks Dareus is the better player.

But remember, Sapp also gushed all over the guy on how gifted he was and how he'd never seen a man that size move like that.

I was a Dareus fan going into this season because I was expecting him to take the next step and have his breakout season, but the fact is not only did he not have the breakout season everyone was expecting he was rather pedestrian at best. Fairly made more plays in the backfield in one game than Dareus made all year, but yet somehow people question Fairley's motor? If Dareus was playing hard every snap, why is his production so paltry? He looked like Tyson Jackson/Marcus Spears Pt. 2 this season ... a 2 down run plugger who will provide absolutely no pass rush ability and will have to be replaced on nickel sets.

People keep harping on this "one year wonder" stuff on Fairly as if it means anything. He played 2 years in JUCO, only only played 2 years of Div I college and one of those years he was by far the most dominant defensive lineman in the country playing against the most competitive and talent rich competition at that level. I consider that a pretty good batting average.
