Media bias - Draft grades

I know draft grades right after the draft are bogus but it's still good to get some thoughts on what folks think. I should no better from most media outlets.

example: they gave us a C for not addressing the safety position and waiting till the fifth round for CB.

they give Detroit and A+ for taking Fairly, Young and Leshoure. Yet the Lions biggest weakness going into the draft was the OL and secondary. I think they drafted one OL late in the draft. I understand those 3 players are very good, but don't they already have 3 guys at those postions that are pretty good (Suh, Johnson, and Best and signed Burleson to a pretty big contract last year).

The double standard most of these show on a yearly basis is simply amazing, but I guess I should expect that.

Grades should be just on who they got. They are worthless anyway but grading down because of perceived needs has nothing to do with if they can play or not.

I love this talk about media bias.

To to any NFL team football forum, and the fans will claim the media is biased against them.

Go to the Commanders forum, and they believe that the Cowboys are always a media favorite ...

Strange how perception differs depending on where you stand.

you cant take what they say with much of any credit, just let it flow because their job is to create traffic for the site, so you wont hear plain fact, you'll hear, dallas did this and the giants were smart and the eagles are the best drafters EVA!!!!!!! so pay no attention to it.

until you hear the words the draft is a "crap shoot" you cant expect much from peoples who job it is to type stuff up and get it out by a certain time regardless of fact or fiction.

It's meaningless no matter who it comes from... but I gave Dallas a C, myself.

It's especially silly imo to act like there's some conspiracy to dislike the Cowboys. Some of the ESPNers are biased towards NY/East coast teams, but there are plenty of Cowboys supporters in the national media. Everybody has their own favorite team.

This is why I don't waste my time on them. I'll take a look, or read them a little. If they are there to read in front of me at the time, but I won't go looking or searching for them.

Some of the stuff these people write can be kind of funny though. Just shows how bias they can be, for or against any team. As well as how assinine they can be too.

The Roy Orbison lookalike on BSPN that's supposedly a draft expert gave us a B-. I don't think there was any media bias this year.

I don't see how Atlanta isn't being lambasted for mortgaging the future for a wr. Instead they are being praised. What they gave up would have been crazy for AJ, but for Jones? Come on

I don't think it's a bias; I think it's just par for the course for media "analysis". They have an opinion about how a certain team's draft went and then they make up reasons to justify that opinion. That's why the rationales aren't consistent from team to team - the grade was never actually based on that rationale.

And, of course, what their opinions really are based on is, "Hey, I've heard of that guy! Good pick!"
