I like Gurley better, not taking anything from Gordon, but Gurley plays against a better level of competition.

Can't argue that. Gurley is great too, but I think Gordon has a style of running that will have more longevity in the NFL and he runs the same scheme in Wisconsin as Dallas. It's a perfect fit. It's like comparing Lynch to JCharles.

I like Gordon better. He has better vision and better feet. Gurley is a bigger back that looks to hit players. He will get hurt.

If we can't resign Murray for a reasonable price, I think we should franchise him and draft his replacement. Then we get the best of both worlds..get to see if the rookie can play and get another year out of Murray with a better backup option
Gordon or Gurley…either would be excellent

I just think both are first round picks and picking a RB in the 1st is a mistake when there will be players on defense with a similar grade.
Murray will be here next year rather it's a new deal or franchise.
We can find a starting RB in the 2nd-4th. No need for a 1st round RB

Few running backs in FBS history boast multiple 250-yard rushing performances, but Wisconsin RS junior RB Melvin Gordon (6-1 | 207 | 4.54 | #25) has two in the past three games. Although it came in a loss to Northwestern, Gordon rushed for 259 yards on 27 carries Saturday and now leads the country in rushing yards per game (174.2). Without Michigan State or Ohio State on the schedule, Gordon should feast on porous run defenses in the second half of the season as he makes his case for first round consideration and the Heisman Trophy.

Melvin Gordon is the next Jamaal Charles.

Todd Gurley is the next DeMarco Murray.

Take your pick.

Franchising him would be a huge mistake. It would be north of 8 mil I think.

Why not put the whole package together? They put together a great line. Put a number 1 talent in the backfield. Don't skimp now. The defense will benefit even more.

Not only that but Wisconsin overuse their RBs. Alot of miles on them tires

They usually do, but they aren't overusing Gordon, yet. He is averaging 22 carries a game so far this season. Gordon is playing in his 4th season(37 games) and has 420 rushing attempts. Montee Ball ended up with over 900 carries during his Wisconsin career. Gordon will probably end up with around 200 more rushing attempts this season. A total of 620 career attempts isn't too many for a college career. Gordon also only has 9 receptions, so he hasn't been used all that much. Gurley has 481 rushing attempts and 64 receptions so far in his 3 years(29 games) at Georgia.

Gordon
420 rushes +9 receptions + 8 kick returns = 437 touches
37 games
11.81 touches per game

Gurley
481 rushes + 64 receptions + 10 kick returns = 555 touches
29 games
19.14 touches per game

I really like both RB's but I am not willing to spend a 1st on either one. This draft is top heavy IMHO and the Cowboys need to select the best defensive player available. They can still pick up a very good RB in the 2nd/3rd round like Mike Davis.

It will just depend on what they do with Murray. If they can't get him signed then getting one of these guys in the first may be a good option. It will also depend on which premium defenders is available at the spot Dallas picks.

If we are picking in the low 20s and Gurley is there I take him no questions asked. Easily BPA at that point and being a run heavy team HB is an important position. You can find good HBs late, but it's too risky if your offense is centered around the rushing game.

The good thing is if we go into the draft with needs at DE and HB its a strong draft for both. Both positions will have 2nd round starters. We can find a D Law level prospect in the late 2nd in this draft
