Well sure, but the same can also be said for rhythmic gymnastics and ballet. There's just a certain social stigma that goes with wearing skin tight get-ups while dancing to music. I mean, I like Tchiacovsky as much as the next guy but that doesn't preclude me from having a few laughs over the implications that go along with our friend Bob being a dancer.
 
Synchronized swimming gets criticised but physically and mentally its VERY demanding. Its a form of endurance swimming that is really tough. Sometimes how something looks has nothing to do with how tough it is to do.

Hershel Walker said it was more demanding than any other sport he ever played.
