For the first time since 1979, no NFL team is selling more merchandise than the San Francisco 49ers, according to numbers provided by NFL PR's Joanna Hunter.

The 49ers, who finished second in sales in 1994 and 1995, were the lone west coast team in the top six. The Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots followed San Francisco.

The 49ers rocketed to the top on the power of offensive and defensive leaders Colin Kaepernick and Patrick Willis, who finished fourth and 10th, respectively, on the list of top-selling NFL player jerseys.

That in no way proves they are the most popular team. What it shows is that with their recent success, their long depressed fanbase has decided its time to get new gear with current players names and numbers.

Who said a great oline won't sale jerseys? I blame the band wagon fans for the 49ers increase in sales. Some fans go from team to team depending on which one is winning. Jerry needs to take note. The Dallas fanbase is shrinking and the fans that are left, don't by merchandise. I haven't bought anything in the last four years. I know several more fans that has quit buying Cowboys gear.

Totally agree. Theyve been waiting as long as we have for good seasons. All the die hards bought things. The 2 most popular are stealers and cowboys by a large margin.

After the 2nd superbowl win for the Giants in the current era, Eli Manning was the highest selling jersey. Just kinda comes with success.

Don't worry, I buy enough to make up for the two of us! lol call me crazy, but I just can't help it. I work at a sports store full of it, so I'm always surrounded by temptation, and there is just something about the star I can't resist. :starspin

Bingo. people are tired of seeing the cowboys lose. 1 playoff win in 16 years is just pitiful.

I doubt that. The Niners were build solid thru the draft and excellent free agent pick ups.

Why do you think the Raiders are going to be so good this year?

Why? The Raiders aren't going to be good next season. It is a bunch of Raiders fans that have traded their stuff in for the 49ers gear that has vaulted San Fran to the top.
