WHo is the better fit and would be the most effective as a true Pass rusher?
That's kind of my thoughts as well wulf..just wanted some other opinions to be sureWulfman;4516431 said:McClellan.
Mercilus is a pure pass rusher, but he's a bit of a one-trick pony at this point, and would have trouble setting the edge or playing the run at a high level. Not saying he couldn't develop into it, but he's not there yet.
To play opposite Ware, the Cowboys need a guy that can play the run, set the edge, and then put his hand on the ground in passing situations. McClellan did that standing up at OLB, at DE, and even swapped in on some fronts and rushed from the DT position. That versatility is an added bonus in Ryan's scheme.

He holds the edge and then sheds blockers like the best in the league. Hes, of course, a natural pass rusher too with the size and speed to dominate NFL tackles. Just love this guy all around.
Just the bit about defending the run. I think he's as good at setting the edge as any player I've seen come out of college.Wulfman;4516476 said:How are you disagreeing with me when I said McClellan was the better fit?

Crap, I thought he said he would have trouble setting the edge and defending the run at a high level. But that was Mercilus. I'm reading too quickly on a mobile device in a hospital waiting room. Ignore me.Jenky;4516497 said:lol, Dude, Wulf basically said all that. I don't understand what you are disagreeing with either.![]()
